    Hi
    My son gave me a 2002 Tacoma he wasn't using. It has 235/70/15. This are the right tire for this pickup? The Tacoma is single cab 2 x 4. Any advice? Thx for your help.

    Not sure about the 2002 models, but the standard tire size for 1998 4x2 (with 5-lug wheels) was P215/70R14 .

    Aren't the tire sizes on a sticker in the door jamb? Is it a five or six lug wheel?

    My base 5 lug 2nd gen came with 215-70-15. Suspect that's what yours is, and what it came with.

    The 235 is a popular 'upgrade'. Looks nice, offers some more grip. Deflates the gear ratio a bit, stealing some low end grunt, tosses the speedo/odo off a bit.

    2x4 makes me think of lumber.

    U mean 4x2 6 lug prerunner, right? If so that size is fine and will keep MPG in check.

    The correct nomenclature is 2WD (two wheel drive) or RWD (rear wheel drive).

    There are two tire sizes applicable here; the 15" wheel is P225/75R15 and the 16" wheel is P265/70R16.

    Some 6 lugs came with smaller tires (smaller than 265/70/16) learnt that in a previous thread with door jam pictures to prove it.

    I'll look later. But some 2.7l trucks (6 lug, both 4wd and 2wd) that came with 4:10 gears had smaller tires. Ie not 31's or 265's.
    4:56 gears were the ones with 31's

    You have a double cab, from what I have read/seen they all have 265's.

    My 2.7 has B07A, which are 4:30's.

    Excellent chart, thanks for the link ... my 2.7L Auto DC has code B04A which is;
    8" Ring Gear with 4:56 gear ratio and two pinion, open

    The same MFG sticker shows 225/75R15 tires installed by factory.

    I thought I added my post this morning, but hours later when at an actual computer it showed up that I hadn't hit post reply yet. Weird
