I guess my suggestion won't help.
I had one of those shorter antenna's on my Taco and it didn't work for shit, tried a signal booster and still worked like shit , plus I mostly listen to Bluetooth or ipod anyway.

@DoubleRGirl You could always cut down your factory antenna, lots of people do that

Cobra's a nice brand. I've just got an inexpensive Midland in the '84, but it works pretty well for what it is.

Edit- I did have to run an extra ground, though. Since my antenna's a window-mount unit it isn't directly grounded, and I was getting a lot of feedback from the engine's ignition system. Ran an extra ground to the antenna cable and cleaned it up a lot.

I've got the cobra 75wxst in my FJ. I think a few others here run it too.

Edit: Rob beat me to it. That's the one I've got too

My old CB setup was a Pace 23 channel with the cheapest 'diesel' brand antenna they had at the local TA. I don't remember the length but it was really short compared to the others. After tuning the setup, that thing could really reach out.

That's what I did to both my Tacoma and the F150. I cut the antenna so it was only about 1-2" taller than the cab. That way, if it does hit, I know I should think really hard about continuing into that garage / underpass. I used a small piece of heat shrink to keep the top of the antenna together since I removed the ball.

That antenna saved me from getting stuck in the prudential parking lot downtown... I was about 3 inches from smashing the cap haha

Hey guys off topic but gotta ask, does anyone have access to a "pipe puller", "ditch witch"? I am going to try and put an irrigation system in and don't want to destroy the lawn in the process.

My evo came with a RC car antenna from the factory, the previous owner of my car swapped it out with a 3" stubby antenna. I can't get shit for reception with it but its loctited on to the point where it's about to snap the antenna base mount so... I suggest not getting stubbies. Even the 5 inch stubby on my old evo was crap too.

I had a stubby on one of my cars. I think it spilt at the base after 6 months.

I've been to Boston one time and the parking garage I parked in was quite the experience. It was not built with trucks in mind. I think I had inches between my bumpers and the concrete while going around the corners. Not to mention the $100 it cost me for the duration. Thankfully work paid for that.

Truthfully, many things about Boston fascinated me. But I guess that's what happens when you take a guy who grew up in a town of 800 and put in him a city for a couple days.

Meh. I'm from a small town and mostly being in Boston just pisses me off, haha!

I had to take my wife to the hospital (Beth Israel) 2 weeks ago at like 11 at night. Forgot I had my hi lift attached to my roof rack and wacked the warning pipe with it. I literally had less than an.inch between it and the ceiling joists, and had to make sure to avoid the electrical conduits/lights attached to the ceiling. Fortunately I never hit, but I was able to park right next to the entrance/exit and I think if I had to go further in I would have been SOL. But it was 11pm and I didn't even think about it until after I dropped her off at the door and went to go park.

Moral of the story: parking in the city sucks balls, especially with a truck/suv
