Yeah I'm about 50/50 right now on lemon law or take a 125k/8 year extended warranty (whatever the increments are). Springs are squeaking already and this will be 3rd attempt at repair. At 4 repair attempted AZ lemon law starts to kick in

Id probably lemon law it seeing all your problems honestly. If it was one problem then I'd say whatever, but you seem to have every single problem on the board.

But I want you to stay on this site so you should look at a 2017 manual transmission!

Just got off phone with corporate they are asking me what I'd like to do. I don't like to play that game so instead I said I'd like to hear what types of options might be available. She mentioned "would you like Toyota to replace the vehicle? would you consider a buy back?" I said if that's an option I'd like to see it listed with ALL of the other options that Toyota deems reasonable at this point. So now a Case Manager is going to contact me today or tomorrow.

@smitty99 sorry if you have answered this once before but would you mind listing out the issues you have experienced with your truck?

    1. Lower Control Arm howl (Fixed myself with plugs)
    2. Hood Vibrating/Adhesive Failing (Dealer said they will address later once they fix bigger issues: rear diff and leaf springs)
    3. Driveline Buzz/Vibration in Steering Wheel and Accelerator Pedal at highway speeds (doesn't bother me all that much but it is definitely there)
    4. Brakes Squealing/Squeaking when rolling to a stop (have not addressed with dealer yet because now cannot hear it over the leaf springs they're so noisy)
    5. Various and intermittent issues with Auto Transmission not limited to but including: Shift Flare between 2nd and 3rd gear, rear end surge/clunk when rolling braking to a stop, surging/lugging at low speeds (25-30mph)
    6. Speedometer intermittently will Tick up and down at highway speeds instead of smooth movement (low on my priority/annoyance list)
    7. Rear Diff howl (being fixed now)
    8. Leaf Springs Creak/Squeak (Toyota Service Manager admits it is a problem but neither they nor corporate has a timeline or idea of solution)
    9. Truck will surge when idling in Reverse or Forward (dangerous when parking) -- have not brought to dealer attention yet because I believe there is no solution

I think that covers most of it.

No howling window seals or duck call sounds in strong cross winds? I'm impressed.

Will you likely accept a replacement Tacoma if it is offered, or just go buyback and move on?

That's good, it shows you value the truck on some level.

Value it enough to spend nearly 40k for it!

Ha! I'm talking with your seemingly tumultuous relationship since the initial 40k.

Holy Fuq Man. I would have poured Gasoline all over the truck, light the damn thing on fire and push it off a cliff. Or try to get it replaced. Im sure you've read my posts. My only real problem was the high pressure Fuel pump, which was replaced before my road trip. Other then that, no issues or noises. When was your truck built and where if you don't mind me asking?

Interested to see if they can fix your problem, assuming you don't get a new truck before the repair.

I have the same noise coming from the rear on mine, most noticeable between 52 - 55 mph. Dropped it off at the dealer this morning, and they just called and told me that they heard the noise but everything is "normal".

They're wrong, it isn't normal. I'd take it to a different dealer. The first dealer tried to tell me it was normal too. Second dealer I took a ride with the service manager and he said "that doesn't seem normal to me"...

I agree, it isn't normal. Apparently they are comfortable admitting that they hear a noise, but not concerned enough to follow-up. They did actually drive it about 15 miles though, which surprised me. I honestly expected to pick it up with the same mileage. Time to call another dealer I guess!

I will fax or scan and email you my dealer service records if you want to show them. Also happy to give you my Toyota Case number so you can reference it when you talk with Corporate.
