Do people not look at vehicles before they buy them? No one took the option off after the fact. So don't bitch your truck doesn't have said feature just because you think it should.

Not really bitching I'm just puzzled as hell why Toyota would offer the technology package without smart key entry on the passenger side when you have older model vehicles like my Prius that isn't even the top of the line Prius that has it.

The double cab also does not have a touch sensor for the smart key on the RH side. 2016 Tacomas with Smart Key only have the touch sensor on the LH front door. It can be programmed to open just the driver's door or all doors.

The 2016 Tacoma is the only Toyota/Lexus/Scion model I've ever seen that only had the touch sensor on one door.

Thats what I've been doing. But I wish the door can open without me having to pull my key fob out.

It is a problem when you pay over 40K for a truck. The feature should be standard. My Prius is able to open the doors without pulling the key fob out.

I have a 09 Prius and I wonder why that does and my 2016 tacoma doesn't either.

whah. You're the one who bought it without checking the options. Time to trade it in on something with passive entry like you so desire

I bet your Prius also can't tow 6,700lbs or has the payload capacity the Tacoma has, or be able to take the beating off-road that the Tacoma can. Take your pick.

Planned in new model upgrades. What a $40,000 truck should have come with, will probably get added in as the years go on. The real question is what of the many missing luxuries will they add first. The power seats or the driver's side grab handle. Maybe the floor mat hold downs on the passenger's side. Could be your passengers side passive access or the remote control rear window or remote locking of the tailgate, all rocket engineering 10 years ago. Could also be the struts for the hood, but hey we did get the Gopro mount, the mostly useless 120 volt socket in the bed and a cubby in the bed that isn't weather proof or locked. All future standard upgrades for the next 5 years or so. This should all keep the Tacoma sales a rocking well into the future.

The Japanese don't treat their women the same as we do here in the good ol USA, and out of respect we open the door for our ladies so they don't see the need to make it easy. A pet peeve of mine on this truck since it is a ritual with me but I guess my thumb will just have to endure the extra steps necessary to keep the old tradition alive.
Gamen is the term needed for these situations needing resolutions.
Maybe they will have retroactive kits available to keep you coming back into the dealer.

Get a Highlander. The lock/unlock stuff on the door handle is on both sides.

Yep, get that if convenience is your priority... they come in AWD, can be had for $40k and a hybrid version would be right at home with the Prius. ;)
