Yeah I don't like the idea of drilling the frame either. Only real downside I see to weld-on is that it voids any warranty on the frame, and for the first gens especially that's a little scary considering how easily they rust out. Mine is still technically covered until 2019, at least until these go on lol. But being in Southern California I don't think we're ever going to have to worry about that.

Sharper drill bits and dont drill so damn fast! It doesnt need to be turning at 900,000,000 rpms to drill well, haha. Not that you did that but thats exactly why people have trouble with drilling the frames, BTW the outside skin of the frame is the hardest part and the core is softer.

If you need a frame warranty the slider is probably the only thing holding it together, hehe.
Just cut em off and get happy with the flapdisk, problem solved!

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
The issue was with the act of putting holes in it, not actually drilling it out.

Agreed I have cr250 2smoker and love Hondas among other brands over ktm for race/free riding but ktm makes a sweet dual sport.

Ahhh, I think I misunderstood....you are saying you DON'T want any extra holes in your frame to begin with?

Bingo! Weld on sliders and bolt on bumpers for me, personally.

Gotcha...I prefer weld on, the bolts never come loose, lol. But I totally understand, its your rig so it should be exactly how YOU want it to be, makes plenty of sense.

I was more concerned with the frame getting damaged in a good accident where the bolts could just sheer and leave SOME "crumple" space. If the frame were tougher I'd probably opt for weld on and just assume if someone is dumb enough to hit me they likely won't make it out on 4 wheels

What he was looking at recently
    Yamaha wr450f

He'll most likely buy private party to save a few bucks. He was lane splitting & a car pulled out over a double yellow from the car pool lane, devon swerved smacked into a car. He was fine but bike's totalled.
Think he's looking to spend around 5k since that's what he got from the insurance company. He'll be spending more time on the road but hey he wants to offroad again & not be 100% reliant on me to go off roading as he was before with the dirt bike.

So I hear. No body gets me as much as the staff at Moe's. Haha. The Flaming Moe is non-alcoholic and quite nasty and the Duff Beer tastes like Budweiser from what I recall. Nevertheless, very nostalgic and great experience.

The WR is not street legal as far as I know.
And In the dirt that bikes a beast, CHarrys step bto had oNE i only rode it a few times bease it scared the crap ot of me. Way to much for his skinny ass! He would be like paper in wind on that thing!
    But it's his world.
I'd go for a KTM 350 if he can find 1 used.
KTM is not my choice I ride blue all day but for what he wants that should be more than enough.
Also riding a bike like a dual sport, dirt bike fashion bike on the freeway sucks!
