What do you think the ratio of 3rd gen buyers to actual TW members are?

Of that ratio, how many do you think are posting legitimate problems to those having another day of no issuess... would you read threads with title that say "Another day of no prblems in my 45 mile round trip to and from work!"

You'd be labeled a post whore, fanboy, Kool aid drinker or whatever if all you did was post that.

Do yourself a favor and take one for an extended drive. You just might find yourself surprised at how good the 3rd gen can be, especially when compared to the 1st gen you have now.

The problem is, there's still a bajillion threads of people having issues. I was giving OP some real world advice, it's expected with any new vehicle. I would get a 15 till some of the bugs with the 16 are worked out.

You're missing the point! There are no more bugs in the 2016 than there were in a 2015. You are basing your assessment off of a very vocal minority of owners... like the guy who traded it in for a 4R and posted about it in literally every fucking thread over and over again for months. And you don't even own one so you really have no idea, you're just basing your opinions off of what you read on here, which OP can do on his own.

I was almost swayed from buying a 2016 after reading this site for a couple months then I started paying attention to usernames and realized it was like 4-5 people constantly complaining mixed in with occasional others. I'm so glad I didn't let the very vocal minority sway me because the truck is badass! I love it! Why in the hell would you buy a nearly 2 year old model when you can get an updated model for nearly the same price!?

Why are the 3rd Gen owners so sensitive about their trucks? :angrygirl:

I dont remember 2nd Gen owners needing to defend every comment that was made on this forum.

2016 interior is really nice. I love my 2015, I honestly think you can't go wrong.

Question #2: bed length is independent of cab size. I got a double cab long bed, and love having the 6 foot bed. If you think you will still own this vehicle when you have kids in a few years, I recommend the double cab. I got that with the thought it will be my truck for the next 10 years or so, and I'll have kids by then.

It was just as bad ot worse in 05 when the 2nd gen came out... wasn't a member here then but on the other forums I belonged to like TTORA. Truck was too big to be a taco, may as well get a Tundra, said it was going to implode because it was no longer Japanese made, only sold in North America... 2nd gen owners pissed their pants trying to get accepted then because nothing was compatible.

I also don't see many 3rd gen owners hanging out in the 2nd gen forums to stir up shit though either....

Really, there are no more issues in the 2016 then 2015? It's funny I didn't see 1 thread about funky shifts till the new 6 speed came out with its double overdrive and weird "learn your drive style" feature. I didn't hear about a vibration in the steering wheel and floorboard that so far has been attributed to the new engine, didn't hear a word, nor see any video of the cruise control issue where the truck downshifts 3 gears every time it even comes to a bump in the road. Say what you want, but the 2016 has issues, on top of the same issues that plagued the 1st and 2nd gens, and the OP should have a chance to make a competent choice.

    As you should too.

Go drive a few and gain some real world perspective. Sometimes newer technology requires a modification to learned habits to explore the differences in S mode, Overdrive mode and when to use the ECT button to get the best results. Once you understand that the truck starts to really shine.

Or just sit reading shit on the Web and fear what people tell you they don't like about things. I'm sure the aluminum foil hat gets comfortable over time.

Haven't driven the '16 but my '15 is the same exact truck pretty much as my 09 was. I'd say if youre planning on keeping it for 30 years, get the '15 because it's the last of its generation and dudes will want it because it is the newest year of an old style. If you're going to get a new one every 2 years then get the '16 because that won't matter.

I guess I don't care. I'm very happy with my truck and I'll keep enjoying it. You can keep enjoying yours. Since you don't own a gen3, I doubt OP will put much stock in your assessment.

Vinyl letter insets for tailgate. Garmin CS60 GPS mounting. Other misc décor in the form of decals.
When the time came, I liked the 1st gen, so bought an '02. Loved everything about it. Mechanically, practically, and style wise.
As the years went by, I started looking at the 2nd gens., though not that seriously because I could never get past my dislike of the instrumentation, (dash).
2014/15 came along, and started thinking "pushing 60, getting near the time I need/want an upgrade from an '02. Could NOT warm up to the 2nd gens!!!.
Then came the '16. Something snapped. Did all my homework, and believe me, I read all the pros and cons. By the way, if you focus on this forum, you will talk yourself OUT of a '16. I was so close to cancelling my order, I had the phone in my hand a couple times.

But I took delivery. I've got one gremlin: the Trip meter glitch, but it IS being resolved. Other than that, I am SO glad I stayed on board with getting the '16. Mechanically, practically, AND esthetically, I love the truck.

That, is MY story. Its my personal preference. I could never warm up to the 2nd gen. But when the third gen came out, it was love at first sight. As soon as I saw my fist 3rd gen at a dealer, I KNOW that's why I waited.

Enjoy. The trucks are great, and the process of getting one is a blast.

(Keep in mind my comment about the forum. People are typically wanting to complain. Its nature.)WH10.jpg
