seriously though... OEM cabin filters are like 10 bucks at most? why pay more for something that filters less.

You can make your own reusable cabin filter from an HVAC filter found at Home Depot or similar for a fraction of the cost of that snazzy Kay end Ehn. Do a search and you'll see a how too with pics & such. Adds like 3hp that's emissions complaint yo!

 

Just make sure you make sure to apply a liberal amount of filter oil

K&N - on TW you either lov'em or hat'em - my K&N cabin air filter works just fine = flame coming so duck. By the way, OP, my guess is you already know this.

 

The electrostatic smelling air is undeniable....................

 

Lol so much hate on the cabin filter. I get it for the engine filter but not this.

Anyways I run one. I don't run down dirt roads too often so it does its job fine. It's washable and well built so I don't have to keep buying replacements. It will pay itself off....eventually in like 3-4 cycles. I'm too lazy and don't care to make my own. Freshens up the cabin smell a bit....like sterilized plastic lol.

It's not advertised as some hocus pocus performance item, it's just a washable filter guys.

To put it in perspective the $10-18 OEM/3rd party filter markup is probably just as high as the KN, I mean it's $10-18 on average for a piece of paper.

 

K&n is like $40, f that noise. Only someone that hates their money would pay that.

Last one I got was a Purolator from Advance Auto.....works as good as ANY, and with military discount, right at $8. It didn't cut HP too bad....

 

I have one.

I go off road quite a bit, and mine is always getting covered in a layer of dirt/dust.

I can clean it regularly, and not have my cabin smelling like desert dust...

As for the K&N flamers, between myself and one friend of mine, we have 2 million miles on several trucks/engines running K&N intake filters, all with NO problems. Not to start an internet war, but that is my real-world experience. YMMV
