I'm thinking of moving to Tennessee, not sure why or where but I'm a kid so why not!? Anyone ever been there? Where would be a fun place to go? I love to be out doors and off roading in my Truck, so those two things are a must! I can transfer with work almost anywhere so that part is covered. Also got a friend willing to conquer my adventures with me along with my dog, so I'm not going alone. (I've always wanted to go, never been there, but would like to move there to experience it not just go for some dumb vacation bull crap, let alone I'm a 20yr kid not much more life to do random crap like this)
    - Other than that got any idea's for me? or hesitations coming to mind that I haven't thought of?
    - It wouldn't happen till summer but I'd like to have a plan by then so in search of input, thoughts, and concerns for now...

I live in Chattanooga, TN. I was born and raised in southern IN, and lived for a short time on the east coast (MA), but moved here 7 years ago. It's a great part of the country to live in if you ask me! I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on the state, but if you're an outdoor enthusiast I'd recommend looking at the east side for starters. I may be able to help you out, but I've got a couple of questions:

    • Are you looking to live in a rural area, or a city? Truthfully, most cities in central/east TN are within a short drive of outdoor spaces, so this is a valid question.
    • When it comes to the outdoors, what do you like to do other than off-roading (hunt/fish/run/hike/rock climb/mtn. bike/kayak/etc.)?

so your saying shoot for east TN?
    ANSWERS:
    - Rural sounds so much better in my mind but if I have to do a city to stay near work and social part of life i will, but prefer country seen area with the mountains, hills, rivers, dirt road trails to no where.
    - LOVE CAMPING! Just planning random over nighters in random places! Hunt when I can but for a while I'd have to pay an out of state tag for stuff so I don't know if there would be much of that. Hiking when I have a friend or group to go with I'll do it. When was younger more into BMX, and that's kinda it for now but always up for a new adventure and trying something new...?

This is all just my opinion, but if you like rural I would recommend Etowah, Benton, Tellico Plains, or Delano (probably in that order). These are reasonably nice rural towns and close to great places for the activities you're looking for (off-roading & camping). Not that these places are too terribly far from bigger towns, but you might consider Knoxville or Cleveland, if not even Chattanooga. Since you fellas are younger you may get bored in small towns and tire of having to drive a ways to get to any decent activities (bars, for instance...in a year that is! ;)). I know a group of guys who offroad regularly at Tellico (mentioned in earlier post) and live in the Chattanooga & Cleveland area. Knoxville is farther from Tellico, but it's a college town so that might be something to consdier from an entertainment standpoint.

All of the areas I mentioned are near great camping areas and in close proximity to the Smokey Mountains. I don't want to drone on too long here, but I'm happy to give you as much feedback as you're interested in if you have any questions or want more detail. You might want to consider flying out here, renting a car, and doing a 3-day tour or so (airports in Chattanooga & Knoxville as well as Nashville & Atlanta) to see what looks good to you in person.

I hope this helps - good luck!

Thank You "Beau02" ! you did help a lot. :) the more I keep looking into the moving idea I think I'd like the Cleveland area most cuz they've gotta store there. (I work with the home depot.) it Still a city but not to rural like you said dont wanna travel for ever to the city... I'd be going to work mostly so if anything I'd wanna live close to it, trails a deffenant second, and social part third ( I'll find my social crowd on the trails!)
** LIKE I SAID THIS WOULDN"T HAPPEN TILL JULY- AUGUST time so still lookin for idea's and imputs. I'd like it to move sooner but I'd like to hang out at home for some of my summer but mostly have a true plan of
    *Where I'm going
    *Who's all going with me
*How long I aprox plan to stay (could depend on who does and doesn't come with me)
*How much money I need to save up for gas, rent, ect...
*When I plan to leave and arive (figure can do it in a week)
*What I want to keep at home and want to take with to new home
*WHY- cuz I'm a kid and why not!!!

Sounds great. If any other questions pop up between now and make a post and we'll do what we can to help. I may be able to help you along the way since I'm pretty local to Cleveland as well.

    Good Luck!
