Things that aren't tools, you say?

Nope, I doubt have anything that fits that description. tools are things that are used for a purpose or task. Everything in my truck has a purpose or task.

A couple microfiber cloths, pistol (when I'm in the thing, at least), spare mag, fenix pd32, Fox mean green, tailgate key, pen and notebook all live up front.

In the back cubbies lie a jump pack, tool kit with various pliers/cutters/screwdrivers and a breaker bar/socket for the lug nuts (I don't trust the factory tool), etc. A fully stocked first aid kit. Fire extinguisher. Work gloves. Nitrile gloves. Another flashlight and big knife. Spare hat. Sunscreen. Couple gallons of water. Emergency ponchos. And, the most often used item... Baby wipes.

In the bed... Tarps, moving blanket, assorted straps and ropes, cargo bar, gear ties, 2lb engineering hammer, and Plano boxes to hold the stuff. Plans to add a shovel, hilift, recovery junk, spare gas and spare water back there, too.

Thats just whats in the truck. I have more in the house and my shop. Got a nice cabinet just for knives. Never enough knives. They dont run out of bullets, can be sharpened with loads of stuff found everywhere, thousands of uses, and some simply look badass. Unless im swimming you can bet im close to a knife.

Not that i dont like guns... I love em. But i use knives WAY more often. You cant protect yourself, clean a fish, build a shelter in the woods, and cut firewood with a gun. Lost in the woods with a choice of either id take a knife every time.

Jack the ripper would have been cool... I couldnt think of a user name when i registered, Gettin lost is something i love doing, it doesnt mean i cant find my way, it means OTHERS cant find ME. :D

"You can't protect yourself" with a gun? um... you meant to not put that in your post right?

I absolutely meant to put that. I was saying you cant do ALL of those things with a gun. You can only protect yourself. With a knife you can protect yourself PLUS do all the things i mentioned.

Im not great with grammar but there is a comma not a period after gun so i figured that meant all of these in the sentence.... I apologize if i worded it wrong.

Of course you CANT protect yourself as well with a knife as you could with a gun, so having both is ideal... Im just saying knives are way more useful for me. With my lifestyle and hobbies.

I just dont let any guns LIVE in my Tacoma :) They get locked down securely. Not as worried about a druggie stealing a knife if they break into my truck as id be if they stole a gun.

sunscreen, spare sunglasses for me and the wifey, phone charger (I guess thats standard), and a flashlight. I also keep CHEAP bungy cords, tie down strap, and rope in the bed cubbies. I emphasize cheap because that stuff is so easy to steal lol.

I've thought about outfitting something in the center console to hold my off duty gun in its holster. It would be great on road trips to get the gun off the hip, but at the same time I fear I'll forget it in the truck...and that will be the time my truck gets broken into lol.

Yep. One member already had his firearm stollen out of his truck.

I have always felt the best place for it is on my person.. If I'm going somewhere i can't carry it That day I'd leave it locked up at home. In a bolted down safe. Some thieves could still get in... The kind that know how to break into a safe... But at least i could feel like i did everything in my power to prevent it.

I hate when people just leave there firearms in there vehicles. To me it's careless. Last thing I would ever want is someone to steal my gun and ended up killing someone or robbing them. Ive seen people just leave them chilling in a door pocket or in a cup holder. Some people leave them in the vehicle all the time... I don't get it
