I completely agree. It's of no use to you in your vehicle anyways... Absolutely no reason to leave it there.

It is an old pic, lol. I do chew a lot, but it's my only vice. I wish I never started and have tried about 10 times over the years to quit. One thing for sure, don't ever start.

I smoke cigarettes so i understand. Wish i never started and keep trying to quit.

Now I do enjoy my beer and whiskey... But I'm not trying to quit that lol. I'd be happy for that to be my only vice. Its not a daily thing... But once, maybe twice a week at most if there is something going on... Then i cut loose a bit and go through a 6 pack and a few shots in a night.

I always hear people talk about the concept of a "truck gun" and it's like... sure that sounds nice in theory but let's say you put it under the jump seats in an access cab. How are you gonna get at it if you need it at a moments notice? And then, if you keep it close at hand, how are you gonna keep any casual observer from looking in and being like "hey, look, a gun!" It's a catch 22 no matter what you do with it in the truck.

Anyways I'm gonna start putting together a kit for stuff I wanna keep in my truck 24/7 but I'm debating what exactly I should keep in there. Simple first aid, etc... but I'm trying to decide between something like a few road flares or high-intensity glow sticks instead.

I see the logic but I can't say I completely agree.

If you are the kind of person that is going to be at 10 different places throughout the day and a couple of them you can't bring a gun into, that doesn't make it necessary to leave the gun at home and go to the other 7 or 8 places unarmed.

Of course any gun owner has a responsibility to do everything in his power to keep his gun out of the wrong hands, but just look at what's going on in Dallas right now and you'll see why some people feel the need to prepare for the worst whenever they leave the house.

I agree as well. The only point to the mod would be for while I'm driving, not to leave the gun in the truck. Just a secure spot while its off the hip. I'll probably never do it though, for fear of forgetting it. If I can't take it somewhere IE sporting events, its in a safe at home.

You can't conceal carry everywhere, legally.

I get that. I'm saying more for the people who leave their guns in their vehicles all the time. Or at a time when they could conceal or lock up inside their home or somewhere more secure

If you leave a gun under your seat or in your console and someone breaks in your truck and steals it you have not done everything in your power to keep it out of the wrong hands.

They make console vaults. Hell i knew a guy that bolted a biometric pistol safe under his seat into the metal because he worked in a courthouse.

A crack head looking for a quick score won't waste time trying to open a safe in a parking lot... The more advanced thieves that do break into safes normally aren't breaking into vehicles. They want cash and jewels. Druggies and teen thieves are the ones normally breaking into vehicles it seems.

I'm all for carrying for protection. Hell look at my signature. That's the decals on my truck. But making it easy for the bad guys to get our firearms directly hurts the good guys in the long run. We are feeding the government reason to take away our 2nd amendment right. Even worse imagine someone's child is killed with the gun stolen from your vehicle... I couldn't live with that guilt.

Now just to make this thread even more interesting/confrontational... Glocks suck. Mayonnaise is disgusting. Real men fish. And vodka is a chicks version of whiskey. :D

Change that to overrated and overpriced and I'm in complete agreement. There are better guns on the market for less money without a doubt.

Overpriced? I bought a new Glock 19 for $485. Wanna guess what the going rate for my SIG P226 is?

Glock VS not a glock is one of the oldest, never ending debates in firearms. I decided while typing a person is going to do what they want when it comes to keeping a firearm in their truck or not so i wanted to move the conversation along a bit... Saying glock sucks ALWAYS gets people talking

Im not a glock fan, An M&P or XD is my choice... but honestly if thats what a person is comfortable carrying i say go with it...

I don't have to guess. I'm a licensed gun dealer. Sigs are good guns, but expensive for sure.

My opinion of Glocks is that too many people buy them for the image that the marketing department has worked hard to create and too few people actually try similar guns before buying. Glock's market share is more of a product of their marketing department than any true advantage that the guns have over other similar brands.

I'm not saying they suck, there are just too many brainwashed Glock fanboys out there.

Ruger sr9c, I never leave it in my truck and when I do carry it's always in my Alien Gear iwb holster. The only place I don't take it is where they have metal detectors. I believe peole that leave their guns in the vehicle are irresponsible and shouldn't own guns.

Well, I am not a brainwashed fanboy. I have a variety of handguns. Kahr, Glock, and SIG. I rent first then after I make a decision based on something that fits me, I shop for price.

I always recommend renting first so friends or family can make an informed choice.

Hey, I love my G19. I'm not one one those "GLOCK PERFECTION" kool-aid drinkers, but it's a damn nice gun, one of my favorite pistols, and one I plan on keeping a long time.
Gen 3 FDE, Truglo sights, Apex firing pin safety, ZEV sear, and a tango down mag release. Otherwise it's stock aside from the light and the 3M grip tape I added into the slide cuts. I'm not a big believer in screwing with stock springs.

That said, I do own other brands- HKs, Sigs, S&W, all sorts of fun stuff. The one dark horse brand people always shit on is Taurus, but every semi-auto Taurus pistol I have owned has been excellent far beyond its price point. Their revolvers are atrocious, but the semi-autos are great. I sent a Taurus 1911 to my gunsmith friend, and he said that it was honestly better than or on par with some of the Kimbers & other high dollar 1911s that he saw in his shop. Their PT92 (a Beretta 92 clone) is actually made on the same damn tooling, and a really, REALLY nice pistol for the money.

We're hijacking the shit out of this thread, aren't we?:p
