Long story short, one of my good friends owns a small town used car lot. Yesterday he took in on trade an '06 2wd Tacoma with a leveling kit, mud tires and a front plate bumper. He want's to return it to stockish before selling and has basically offered me the front bumper for my stock bumper and enough money to repaint it ($200). The bumper is the body armor winch bumper with no winch and no fog lights and in perfect condition.

    upload_2016-7-8_14-4-3.jpg

Not this truck but the same bumper.

The catch is that I have custom mounted a set of Rigid fog lights into the stock bumper holes and stock fog lights will no longer work anymore. He said I can toss in a set of no names, which I already have and was going to use for reverse lights and we are good.

Do yall think this would be a good opportunity to get a plate bumper at what seems to be a pretty fair price? I've been wanting a plate bumper but wasn't wanting to lay out the cash for a new one.

Do you have the suspension ready to take on such a heavy bumper?

I have Billie 5100's and OME 885 coils. Should be fine for now. Here is the bumper on the truck, I guess it does have fogs but those will be immediately swapped for my rigids.

My brother works for my buddy and he is the one that offered it up. Pretty sure they would know if I sold it out from under them and then I wouldn't have a bumper at all so that's a no go.

Big, ugly and effective. I have always been a function over form guy and I daily drive with idiots every day. Any extra protection is better than stock.

Effort mostly, money isn't an issue particularly but I like to run these kinds of things by the fellas before jumping in. I don't know, maybe a confirmation of sorts I guess. It's like when they ask if anyone objects to a marriage in a ceremony. Every now and then someone pipes up and makes a valid point so I was just putting it out there.

Rock the bumper for awhile. If you really don't like it, buy what you really want then sell this one to make back some of the money. Your buddy shouldn't care at that point. Hell, from his perspective (maybe yours too), you're doing him a favor taking the damn thing. It's not like you asked him for it.
