Bigfoote13 mentioned sand as a wind break, and I'll have plenty of that at my disposal... do you think sand would get sucked up into the smoker / onto the grub?

If I were you, I'd use your current set up. You already have proven it's capabilities, and you "know" how to use it. Why take the risk of using a new smoker that you have no experience with? Just save that bit of money towards a real smoker, something I definitely see in your future!!! That's my opinion, and worth what you paid for it.

    Yeah, I'm hooked :D

The only issue with my current setup is the cook surface is only about 12 x 12, and that's it. Not very much for feeding 6 people, unless I time everything out so it's not all served at once. That's totally doable, but I thought maybe there's something out there small to transport but bigger cook surface. This Kingsford thing does fit both criteria. BUT... I am tempted to just stick with me current mojo, cuz like you said, it's working!

    Decisions, decisions.

And the sand doesn't get into the cooker and onto the food?

I use the paddle. Just put it all in huge chunks then put it down and lock it and put it on speed 1-2. Then decide how pulled u want it.
