So I was rear ended pretty good tonight. Freeway traffic came to a standstill and the Mini Cooper behind me didn't even touch his brakes. Young kid, I'm not even upset. Accidents happen. Downside is the taco only has 4040 miles on it and the frame is spaghetti now.

Here's the dilemma. My wife and I are moving cross country from Ohio to Colorado in two weeks. I have USAA for my insurance and they are outstanding with getting things done. I had planned on getting a uhaul trailer and moving that way but now we will end up with a box truck. Once out there I'll have a few weeks before two cars are needed. Wife is finishing her PhD and I'm on my bachelors.

So we really liked the F150s but we didn't like the price. I wanted a ram 2500 diesel but she didn't like the price. We both liked the Tacoma, just Toyota in general and we got a killer deal on our taco. It's a trd or and my only complaint is the cab seemed kind of small, and to be fair the other two trucks are huge inside. Actually my other was the transmission hunting for gears.

It's a weird part of the year. No real big price cuts on the 16s of anything because no 17 has hit any lot yet, but they could be anytime soon. So do I try to talk the wife into the diesel and see what killer deal we could get, look at F150s with the same idea, or see how soon I could find a taco with a killer deal?

    That sucks.
If you think a full size will fit you better after owning the tacoma, see what kind of deals you can get. If the tacoma didnt feel right the first time, it probably won't the next.

My personal vote is the 150, the v6 ecoboost is awesome.

You won't get a killer deal on any new Tacoma. Unless you consider "invoice" (if you're lucky) a killer deal

DAMN I hate when that happens!!

For real though, that blows. I agree with the other guy in that if it felt too small to begin with, it's not going to feel any better with another one. Might as well spend a little more on a full size.

I was looking at f150s and GMCs, but after seeing the dump in value I opted to go with Toyota. I also found that the Ford eco boost engines have problems after 100 k. Do your homework.

Wife is finishing PhD, you are getting your bachelor's, and you have a tacoma. You must have won the lottery or something, holy wow!

But to answer your question, there probably won't ever be "killer deals" on the taco. But right now the tacoma is still the best in its class and you don't have time to wait and see what ford offers on the Ranger. Get another Taco! Manual transmission though this time :)

Just for the sake of discussion because it's up to you as its your money and you know what is best for your needs, but have you priced those dodge 2500's ? Before I bought the taco I checked them out for fun and found the loaded trim levels were 60k +++ so I guess any price you pay for a new taco would be a "killer deal" I'm surprised that you brought up the F-150 and not the Dodge 1500 ECO diesel. I hear they get great fuel mileage. Glad you weren't injuried and good luck with your decision making.

I was in the military then worked as a federal cop for a while. So I've had to go back to get my degree. As for the Tacoma it's cliche but all from hard work.

I liked the Eco diesel. But in the trim, Laramie, for another 5-8k I could have the 2500 with the Cummings. We came close on a 2500 and we were mid 50s. The Eco would have been upper 40s lower 50s. The F150, in lariat, would have been close to 50 as well. The 2500 is way more than we need right now, but within the next year we are buying a house and then looking at travel trailers not too far in the future. So whatever I end up with now I want it to be with me for the next 5-10+ years.

    here's my .02

If a mini Cooper can make your frame spaghetti, I think if I was in your shoes, I'd move up to a Real Truck.

My Tow Rig is a GMC 2500 Duramax. If you are thinking of a towing, its a No Brainer.. Get a diesel.

Only downside is cost of a new one and a bit harder to maneuver in tight places, parking lots etc.

If I wanted a full-sized I'd buy a ford. Just my personal opinion.

Not yet. It's only a few hours old. Once we were off the road we were able to see how far everything was pushed forward. The forward movement could have traveled up the drive shaft and things on the front end may be tweaked as a result too. Usaa is coming to pick it up Monday to have it looked at

And to show how far forward everything was moved
