You're welcome to use the photo. Make sure you account for your time in those prices... That's practically the price of the parts and shipping.

Looks like there's enough interest for me to plop down a few bucks and get some parts to wire mine up (as a proof of concept), and then to start making at least a few of them for y'all.

It looks nice but you could buy a homelink mirror for that price

I imagine that you could, yes.
For the price of the multi-button plus faceplate, at least. But, then you still have to buy a new faceplate if you want to mount more switches. So there's always that ever-so-small savings. :)

Of course, if you're already adding switches for other loads, then I'd imagine you're completely able and willing to make this thing yourself.

Can you tell me where you can buy a homelink mirror for $135? All the Gentex ones are much higher than $135.

This is a really good idea, best of luck making them and hopefully you can make a profit as well!

I already have the momentary switch mod done, if not I would totally be in.

    Interested to see final product.

Isthis powered by the truck or an external battery source?

Switch lights will be powered by the truck. The opener will be powered by its own battery unless other arrangements are made (would increase cost and complexity of install).

    I love this idea!! But....

-when I saw that the Taco didn't come with Homelink out of the box, my $35 Chamberlain opener visor thingy seemed to fit the bill fine....and it works.

I got mine on eBay for $155 from some random buyer. There was an extension adapter on the homelink mirror that fits the Tacoma plug.

Sorry didnt mean to thread jack. If I didnt have plans to use that space for light bar switches, I would have gone this route. Its a tad bit cheaper than the homelink.

I would suggest offering a 3 button. I have a 3 car garage and im sure some others do as well. Maybe even a 2 car garage within a gated community.

I should be able to add a third button for another $25, assuming it's on the same transmitter.
For example, the genie transmitter I priced these with has 3 different buttons, not not all openers do, so depending on what opener I have to gut, it may be even more expensive, to the point where you would be much better off buying a home link mirror so that you aren't brand-locked to your current type of garage door opener or stuck buying another setup from me (or re-soldering in your own new remote).

Any reason this is in the 3rd gen section?

Will it not work on 2nd gens? There are many more 2nd gens than 3rd gens currently.

Because I'm a Tacoma newbie who doesn't know if 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen Tacomas share the driver side cubby and/or same switch sizes.

2nd gens are better, change my mind.
2nd Gen cubby is not the same as the 3rd Gen, but it can be done with some modified panel. @axisofoil you could make another thread in the 2nd Gen area or maybe see if there is more interest and put up a Feeler thread for both and start a Group Buy on these puppies. I gave up on the idea of how much work a modified panel in the cubby would be and decided I am going to go with the Homelink mirror, but haven't bought yet. So if you come up with one for the 2nd Gen I'd be in

    edit:
quick google search for pics of both cubbies

Since the 2nd gen already has the 3-switch panel, maybe it's just the matter of determining if the switch sizes are the same.

Thanks, how easy it to remove the panel to change the battery?
