I left Colorado a year ago because of the influx of people and ridiculous increase in real estate combined with the crappy pay for what I do for a living. Ended up in the Bay Area, but I'm working in a place that pays the highest in the country for what I do for a living. Even though the cost of living is one of the highest in the country, I'm still ahead of the game and saving more than I could ever save when I was in Colorado. Sure, it's not my ideal place to live, but given the amount of awesome outdoor things to do that are relatively close and the amazing music scene and incredible food, I could be in worse parts of the country. Colorado was the best kept secret for years as far as places to live and quality of life, but now that secret's out and the state is being ruined like the rest of the country. I'm actually surprised it took this long for people to figure out that it's an awesome place to live. My only regret is not buying when I had the chance. Houses in my neighborhood 8 years ago were $120-$160k, now you're lucky if you can touch anything for $500k. But back then you didn't want to live in that neighborhood and English was the second language.

Ditto. I'm staying in the Bay Area making the best of it and saving as much as I can hoping I can take advantage of the next big market crash, but from what I've read that may not happen until 2028. I work in health care, and at least now it's fairly recession proof. I work in pediatric ICU, NICU and Peds ER, and my plan is to save as much as I can now and ride it out until the next crash.

    Cali sucks, stay out.

That's not even a joke about keeping the population down, this state is ridiculous. High taxes, high real estate prices, high gas prices, extra strict gun control (not a problem to all, but it annoys me)... I can't wait to leave. At times, I regret not having done so when I had the chance!

Id say stay far away from new jersey just as bad as cali we have the highest property taxes in the country.

And to the op im sorry for your lose. Really sucks that happened to you as long as your in one piece thats all that matters. As far as full size trucks go imo id say tundra ive always liked them.

That's actually not very bad at all. Looks like they hit the brakes and went under the rear bumper, pushing the axle forward. Didn't hit hard enough to push the bed into the cab. Frame may be tweaked a little, but a good shop will make that truck like new. Glad y'all are OK.

He didn't touch his brakes at all. When it was all said and done he had spun 180 degrees and was facing the other direction. He did go up under but on the front of his car you can see where everything impacted.

Usaa is sending a tow on Monday to have it sent out. The told me to take everything out already just in case. Plus it's a brand new truck. The best body shop in the world won't ever make it back to original, and I don't want a salvage title. If they want to fix it and sell it to recoup some loss that's on them. But if I have anything to say about it I need to start truck shopping again.

...^^^... USAA is good, but if they don't total it ... check your state insurance regs for ... "depreciated value damage claim" (something like that) because of frame damage.

    good luck

Dealer invoice in a f150 is anywhere from like 3k-8k lower than MSRP. Rarely in my area does anyone ever pay full MSRP for one. Find yourself a volume dealer and I'll gaurentee you'll get one cheap. Plus hey usually have decent incentives. Right know I know they had some military discount among a few others. But that might of ended July 5th I can't remember.

When my 06 Tacoma was totaled. The fault was the other driver. I settled with my insurance. They went after the other person insurance to get reimbursed. I had no dealings with the other guys insurance, except to settle on medical and any future claims.

I'm doing the same thing. When I had my charger some lady caused a minor accident at a car wash. Usaa took care of everything and I didn't have to pay a dime or deal with her insurance company at all.

Another vote for the Tundra. (I have one)

Obviously you are aware on of the resale of Toyota vehicles. You won't be seeing that with the other companies.

The 5.7 gave me 15.9 mpg on my last xway trip. I drove it like I stole it after driving my slow 1st gen. The power is awesome and addicting. You won't have to worry about having enough truck to tow that future TT if you go Tundra.

I get 19 with the Tacoma. For $15+k less money than that dodge diesel, you can buy a lot of gasoline. Actually, I don't see how you could ever come out ahead $wise. You would have to drive the deisel 400,000 miles to make it worthwhile.

The cost of driving one or the other is never about what is better on fuel. Most of my trips can only be calculated to be 5-10 dollars less or more depending on what I drive. Its not even worth doing the math anymore.
