Does anyone know the best wax to use for my blue Tacoma? I previously owned a 2004 Chevy 1500 and the paint peeled really bad on it. I do not want this to happen to the Tacoma.

    I've always used Meguire's.

Is there a specific type of Meguire's you recommend and also any tips on how to best wax? Like what type of cloth, how long after washing, etc?

Honestly there isn't that much to it. Wash and dry thoroughly, then follow the directions on the can. You can get cloths made specifically for waxing- lint free synthetic terry cloth.

Look on Autogeek.net, lots of good detailing info there, it really depends how involved you wish to get, you can go as basic as the guys listed above to full hard core to anywhere in between. I've had great luck with Collinite 476 lasting a long time on a properly prepared surface.

Meguire's Wash and Wax is a great product. I use that with a two bucket wash system and wax it once a year with Gold Class wax and the paint has held up amazing.

If you want easy and basic, look at the Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax. Very easy to apply, and just let it dry and buff out. I waxed my whole truck in about 45 min (not including wash and clay) and it took out quite a few pinstripes from the trails.

I also like the meguiars wax. I try to do it twice a year. Once in the fall, and once in the spring. Definitely makes a difference. They usually come with their own applicator pad. I use microfiber towels to buff, but any quality towel low lint will do.

Topcathr, yes I think its a acrylic formula, I use in on my 95 325is makes a deep beautiful shine.

The JetSeal you can top coat with a quality carnauba wax, will try soon.

As you can see, no shortage of opinions on the "best" wax for your truck. Frequent washing, a good cleaner/wax, every three months and a garage will keep your paint looking like new for a long time.

I'll also say Meguires wax. I like the tech wax.
