Do not miss the Greek Islands. Just do not. And go find the "sleepy" side of some of the less-popular islands. You could crew on a boat there, too, if you wanted/needed to.

 

Potentially moving to the CDA area with my wife and Australian Shepherd after I EAS. Originally from Seattle, WA area but we've been in SoCal the last 3 years and have another year left down here.

Just a heads up I might pick your guys' brains about that general area (potentially Boise area too) and questions I'll have about Idaho in general or whatever may come up.... Thanks in advance dudes!

Mark, we met awhile back near Northgate as we caravanned for a wheeling trip. I'm north of Spokane now, about 45 min drive to CDA. Property taxes are quite a bit higher in ID and wages are lower. In case it makes a difference to you, ID is a right to work state. Gas prices are lower there as well. Also, if you own property in ID, you get garbage tags (static stickers you put in the windshield similar to good to go pass but not RFID). The garbage tags let you go through any dump, leave your garbage, then leave without paying anything.

I have the weekend and Monday off. Any suggestions on where to go for some good fishing and camping while maybe avoiding some of the holiday mob?

 

A family member has property on an island on Priest Lake, and has a static sticker that is dated for the year to put in the front windshield of any car. I put it on my truck when I did a dump run, went into a dump in Coolin, put each thing into applicable piles or bins, then drove off without paying. There wasn't even a scale to go over out there.

Could be something for the county, or maybe just around Priest Lake. I don't know about everywhere in ID.

Yeah I'm coming from Pendleton.
We'll be switching places since I'm going to Okinawa/Fuji/Korea this fall and after this pump that's when I'll really be inquiring about NID areas/living

 

they might for that specific community but I know for Kootenai and benewah county you are supposed to be the respective resident to dump there. Nobody checks though... I have to pay for garbage in my land taxes...so thats where I pay...not per load.

Hey E. WA and N. ID types, there is going to be a trip to Gallagher and/or Liberty next Saturday the 30th. This is near Cle Elum, so from i90 ID/WA border, about 220 miles west then a little north. Still working out exact details but I know I'm going. Anybody else that wants to go, either post up here, in NW WA meet thread, or PM me. Count on camping.

 

Whats a "CDA"?

 

CDA is just shorthand for the city of Coeur D'Alene. Its like the unofficial initials of the city.

It's like Newcastle is short for I have too much money for Kirkland but not enough for Bellevue.

 

Its because no one can firgure out how to spell it correctly.

 

The story goes that Newcastle was put there by Bellevue to keep the riff-raff , er, I mean, Renton at bay.
