New to the site here and I'm in desperate need of help. I have a 2007 dble cab 4x4 sport. About 3 weeks ago I go to start the truck and there is nothing. No turnover, no click, nothing. So I jump it off. Go to the battery shop have my battery checked. Everything is good with the battery that I've had going on prolly 8 months now. Take it to have the alternator checked, checks out fine. I drive the truck for about a week and no problems, then out of no where I notice the backlight on my odometer is flickering, I get to where I'm going and bam it won't start. Get it jumped off. Fast forward another week later to tonight, I crank the truck just fine at my house. I get halfway to where I'm going and I notice my headlights and odometer lights flickering, so I cut the dimes lights on and same thing. I get where I'm going once I go to leave the dang thing won't crank again. What the heck is the problem?!?! It's driving me nuts. Any and all responses are appreciated!

check your battery posts for corrosion, try cleaning them and make sure they are tight.

I tried that the first time. Had a little corrosion but not much and everything was very tight. But I will give it another shot in the morning. Thanks for the response

Check your battery cable connections. At the battery, and where the ground cable bolts to the body and engine.

Also check ground where it attaches to the inner fender. Good luck.

can you post a pic of the battery posts? Sometimes they will appear to be tight but not seated all the way down, and a bump makes them move enough to lose connection.

You have a defective alternator. The slip rings are probably worn and grounding causing the unit to not charge.

Jimmyh The op says he had the alt checked out, but you are right that was a week ago, take a jumper cable from the neg battery terminal and put it on the engine block. That will tell you if its a ground issue. Also get a ammeter and put it in series with your battery to check for a parasitic drain. Good luck keep us informed..........................

It's not the battery since you have electrical problems while driving. Not the alternator cause you it happens when you try to start the truck. Definately the grounds connections

Assuming the battery and alternator tests were accurate....

I'm guessing a potential grounding issue. But I'm no electrical expert.

I had a local shop check it out. All they do is alternators and starters. I'm gonna check everything out y'all have suggested as soon as I get off work. Will keep informed.

Checked the ground and clean the fool out of the terminals. Everything was tight as should be. Guess it's a waiting game now. Will keep posted

My 08 does the same thing, the wire on the battery had to be positioned correctly, try moving it toward the top of the battery
