I'm thinking about picking up a 1st gen and found this one on Craigslist. I like manuals better, but I'm ok with an auto. I've had both over the years.

What do ya'll think of the truck and the price?

    Thanks for the help.

Low miles and clean truck. Looks like there is some sort of lift on it? I would ask about the service history? With where the miles are it's about to be due for timing belt and some other stuff. Maybe use that to talk that price down some. Some might say that price is too high. But where I live I have seen trucks with more miles and worse shape go for around that price all the time. Good luck. Also make sure to look/ask at the frame. Make sure it is rust free and see what if any treatment has been done to it?

All good points FirstGen Jer. Thanks. I just started looking, but here in Louisiana you see a lot of these trucks for about $10k with 175K to over 200K miles quite often and they are in much worse shape.

Looks exactly like a white 2002 TRD 4x4 Tacoma I just saw driving down the highway about an hour ago, thought maybe this was it until I saw you're in Louisiana haha. Truck looks really clean, low miles for the year.

I would try and talk him down on price. For what it's worth, I found my 2004 4x4 TRD Tacoma, 5 speed with supercharger with only 24,500 miles on the odometer a few months ago and paid $17k for it.

$14 seems a bit high, but then again it's hard to fine these things with under 150k miles on them so he might not budge on it, someone is likely to pay what he's asking if you don't. If it were me, I'd ask him if he'd take $11k, but I'd come prepared to pay the asking price if he was firm and the truck was as good as it looks.

Thanks for the comments Ryan. I was thinking maybe shoot him$12 if the truck turned out to be what it appears and see if he takes it, but $11 would be better with me.:D

Hey Ryan, how much boost do you run with that supercharger? Never driven one of those, but I bet it would be fun.

I have an all stock setup with my supercharger (unless you count the TRD headers) so at most I'm seeing 6 - 7 psi max. I rarely ever go that high though because I need to upgrade my spark plugs/wires and add the 7th injector kit, I start to get some pinging/pre-detonation sometimes at high boost.

It's definitely fun to have, I don't know if I would have ever gone out of my way to get a supercharger had it not come with one already on it though. I mostly use my truck for off-roading and crawling in 4lo, so the supercharger is mostly just to have some fun passing people on the freeway every once in awhile lol.

I do worry about it's long term reliability and overall effect on the longevity of my truck so I try to just drive it normally most of the time. Everyone tells me I need to push it to redline to see the best of the supercharger but I'm scared to even go halfway to redline lol, the 3.4 starts screaming pretty loud at around 3k RPMs...

Ah, just have fun with it and do the maintenance. I understand being careful and find myself pampering my vehicles. Then I think, damn, just have fun and drive the thing.:burnrubber: There are always more of them out there.
