I carry around 500lbs daily (toolbox, tools, camper shell) in my 2014 ac 4x4 and have come to realize that airbags may be the best option for me. Especially since i might be asked to grab 10 bags of concrete or some thing at times. I just received my 3" front lift, with the Icon 1.5" 3 leaf aal for the rear before i made this possible breakthrough. If i installed the airbags would i still install the aal to get the rear end closer to level with the front? and add air for load or just leave it out and use airbags only? The stance would be right where i want it with the aal if i pulled out the toolbox for the weekend with Zero air. any help greatly appreciated and sorry if this is posted in wrong area

If it were me install the AAL. Let the springs carry your daily vehicle weight use your bags to compensate for the heavier loads

Leave in or you lose a 1/2 in in height and with your load your probably going to need that 1/2.

Maybe the progressive aal would work better for you then a single aal. Wheelers offroad makes the most affordable one.

I ran 2.5" front lift and stock springs with airbags (at 35 - 45 psi) for nearly 3 years. It rode okay for my uses when paired with a good rear shock - I chose OME N182. Now I have OME Dakars and airbags (at 10 psi) and they ride soooo much better. I'd suggest the AAL and air bags together. Make sure to add the Daystar air bag cradles if you off road at all - they keep the bags from restricting your articulation.

I have the Wheelers AAL installed with Firestone Airbags. Ride is great. However, with the AAL installed you will need the extended brackets for the airbags. Or make your own. I was able to make my own out of 1/4 inch steel flat stock.

There are threads stating that the icon and wheelers 3 leaf aal are the same product, with the wheelers being cheaper just no cool icon sticker and cred.

Not sure you understood what i meant but the aal I am referring to is call a progressive aal. I believe people have/do run both the progressive aal and air bags.

In the back I went with a Toytec AAL, an extended brake line, and some Monroe MA-820 air shocks instead of air bags. I love the ability to add some air when I'm carrying a heavy load (wood, stone, sheetrock, etc.) and reduce the air when I want a smoother ride (most of the rest of the time), but still have the shocks provide some front-back rake. Note here: my factory springs weren't totally shot in the back, but I think that's partially due to the fact that I've had air shocks in the back for much of the life of the truck (Monroe MA-727's fit with stock rear suspension).

Yea really starting to second guess this construction path. Por vida!

Thanks for input @gilpinrobert, stoked that ive done favors for My brother that does metal fab

Thanks @turbodb yea my springs are lookin pretty sad outback frowning appreciate the input forgot id need the longer break lines too

Ended up buying from toytech last minute because of the 10% off for 4th. Just opened package and the icons dont really look like a product from a top suspension company. Wouldn't be surprised if they were the same
