New to Toyota Mods-leveling my truck

    I have had my TRD sport for about a year and am now ready to make some modifications and could use the wisdom of some more experienced Toyota owners.

    I would like to level out my truck, nothing to crazy as I am not ready to do a full suspension lift however I would like to bring the front of my truck up an inch and a half. I'm planning on using bilstein 5100's but from what I have read they adjust to .85 or 1.75 can I get away with 1.75 without causing problems or is there a better option? Can I use OME shocks to get the inch and a half (I like those better but only saw lifts of 2 to 3 inches) Gotta keep costs reasonably low.

    These will give you 1.6". Or if you stick with 5100's and stock springs, your choices are .85" (~1"), or 1.75" (1.75"-2").

    Whenever you lift, there is a chance you will cause problems. Seems like the higher you lift, the more the chances increase / more components are affected. Most common is the front diff. vibration. This is fixed with the ECGS bushing. I had my 5100's @ the .85 setting for years trouble free. I now have a new set @ 1.75, with a 2" AAL, with the ECGS bushing, and a carrier bearing drop.

    You could go with .85", and not have to do anything in the rear. If you do go with 1.75", you will likely sit slightly nose high, and have to lift the rear as well. If you decide on just the new coils @ 1.6" you may level out with factory springs alone. I'm sure someone will chime in that has that setup.

    I'm 1.75" and after about 2 months I've settled back to nose down. Just food for thought. My tundra with the 5100s maxed out sat level after a year or so.

    These Eibach springs lifted my 13 DCSB about 1.75" in front. Paired with the 5100 shocks the ride is stiffer than stock, but not in a bad way IMO. No vibrations or problems at >20k miles.

    Ok guys thanks for your input, sounds like the solution I need. I looked at the link that Fitz235 sent and it said that the eibach coil could be coupled with 5100s or OME-any preferences between the 2.

    For reference the TRD PRo and Baja both have 1.75" lifts up front from the factory. So at that level you are completely safe as it is the same as an OEM option.

    5100s vs OME, 5100s have digressive shock valving and OME is progressive. Very different. On a daily driver I prefer digressive myself.

    Bad idea. When you alter the vehicle's balance like that, it attracts unwanted COP attention all of the time. It perpetually looks loaded, and even a small trailer will make it look OVERloaded. I'm not saying that it is, just that it will LOOK it.

    Cop decides to pull you over because something looks a bit off, then suddenly you are under scrutiny, and something that *is* a bit off somewhere else becomes a target, and you get written up.

    A bit dramatic.

    It is an OEM option for the truck to come level with the Pro or Baja. This isn't Cali-style nose high, it is level rather than having a rear high rake. You're not going to get stopped for driving a stock TRD Pro down the street because it doesn't have a rake.

    Personally I'm not a fan of level, as I use my truck periodically for homeowner stuff and don't want to be nose high when I have stuff in the back, which is why I added the 1.5" progressive AAL in the rear to go with my Baja kit. It actually handles better too, if you occasionally haul anything it is a good route to maintain a rake with a small lift. But if you don't haul anything there is nothing wrong with having a leveled truck.
