If you do ... could you add a little info. Why? How long? How unstable is it? etc. ...

I did it on one of my 4Runners with a 3 inch Toytec BOSS lift. I experienced the expected body roll while with cornering. It wasn't overwhelming, but I'm not going to remove the sway bar on my Tacoma. I prefer less body roll and the Tacoma doesn't need the articulation that I needed in my 4Runner to be just as capable

I have Walker Evans suspension and ditched the sway bar instantly. Truck handles great. Including faster than normal cornering speed. Better articulation when wheeling!!
I don't know how it would be with stock suspension though.....20160509_073327.jpg

No sway bar, much higher spring rates on my current suspension though. Definitely feel more body roll, but I am a super slow driver and I'm not worried about it

I've read on here that you shouldn't remove the sway bar if you're on stock suspension...it's too soft and will create too much body roll to the point that it's too uncomfortable and possibly even dangerous.

Anyway, that's just what I've heard...if anyone here has removed it on a completely stock setup I'd be curious to hear what your experience is like.

I wont be running stock, I have a Icon Stage 3 on its way ... I am thinking the coilovers will stiffen up body roll. The only thing that worries me is traveling at higher and/or highway speeds and having to swerve to miss something unexpected. Then again, if whatever the obstacle might be, maybe the stage 3 will soak it up ....

Stiffer springs will help with body roll but, in a evasive maneuver it's the rebound that catches everybody.
Be mellow minded, leave space in between vehicles and good luck.

This is what people either fail to realize, or just don't care about. You can drive slow all you want, but it's the unexpected evasive maneuvers that will cause you to crash.

I'm in a second gen, but that doesn't matter. Been running without a sway bar for a while now. First drive with it off was different, noticeably softer. Can't even remember what it used to be like with it on...

My reasoning for taking it off was as follows. Truck literally never goes on highways... Fastest it sees is 45-50, my average speed, according to my UG is around 27. Lots and lots of dirt and gravel roads, so having true independent suspension just makes it buttery. I think the biggest thing is it's just fun! Lots of winding roads here, and wallowing through corners makes my commute a lot more enjoyable.

Edit: I will add that it takes so little time, and is so easy to remove it and put it back on, that it's worth trying out. If you don't like it, or it makes you uneasy, put it back on.

Don't be stupid... Don't abruptly change directions (obviously)... And you have nothing to worry about.

This sway bar is present due to roll over risk when taking evasive actions at highway speed. If you stomp on the brakes and crank the wheel, the sway bar will keep it from flipping. I'm leaving mine attached

This truck has plenty of rear flex for the average weekend off road wheeler

Haven't had mine on for 2 years now and no issues. I drive back and worth to Kansas from Houston multiple times through the year for school and no complaints. I like the ride

Took mine off at 6k miles, stock suspension, no issues, better ride on and offroad.

If you commute with your truck keep it on. Mine sure as heck saved my rear end when a jeep in front of me decided not to notice the gridlock traffic that we were charging into. Also shoutout to Toyota's excellent traction control system.

Whoops, didn't even notice this was in the third gen section. Suspensions between second and third gen are basically the same though so it applies. It takes fifteen minutes to try it out so not a big deal if you have to put it back.

Swaybar is one of the first things that come off of mine, Tundra, FJ, 4Runner, now Tacoma. I have ran it a while on stock suspension before waiting on coilovers just with superbumps. Makes a HUGE difference and one of the best free things you can do. I would recommend it with coilovers though.
