I think I have read something about this in this thread but I am to lazy to read through all these pages.

Truck: I just installed a OME kit complete with dakars. I have 885 coils, only spacer is the one for drivers lean, on a DCSB pre-runner.

Problem: going over a speed bump my front sounds like the shocks are bottoming out. Any ideas on what this is, how to fix it, or is it normal? Thanks for the help in advance.

I have the same setup just installed except 4 wheel drive and I have not been experiencing this issue but I have heard about it and I think the only option is limiting straps but that's just from what I've seen on the forums somebody else might have a better idea on what to do with that

I read that thread, didn't really have any answers to fix it, looks like I'm just going to live with it
Guess I will just have to live with it.

Dumb question inbound: I installed my OME kit about a month ago - is there any reason for me to hang on to my stock suspension parts? They have about 80K on them but I just don't imagine ever needing to go back to stock and I also doubt it's worth selling used stock springs and shocks. Thoughts? Advice? Get lost numbnuts?

So I ditched my air bags a couple of weeks ago. Today I installed an Allpro U-bolt flip and Superbumos front an rear.

    image.jpg

First problem. The U-bolts were too long.

    image.jpg

    Easy fix.

    image.jpg

Next issue. I think I need to extend the bump stops?

    image.jpg

    image.jpg
The bump stop is JUST starting to touch the frame here and the Dakars are going negative.
    image.jpg

Hey @OZ-T what are those Wheelers towers that you mentioned earlier in this thread? I don't see them on their site.

I have been thinking hard on the Full OME lift, but had never been in a Tacoma with any kind of lift. A few weeks ago I spotted a couple lifted Tacomas on a car lot. The lifts were spacers and blocks. I took both of them for a ride. Both felt like they were tippy and drifted across the road. The trucks looked cool, but the ride was scary.

For you folks with the full OME, what should I expect in ride quality? Will it truly be better than my 'safe' stock ride?

I have 885's with Bilstein 5100 and a 1/2" spacer. Sitting at 2.5" lift in front and 2" in the rear. The ride is excellent. Doesn't wander at all, slightly more firm than stock.

+1. I was very happy with Wheelers 5-Leafs, OME 881s, and Bilstein 5100s in my 1st Gen for years. I am similarly pleased with the OME 885 Coils, Dakar Leafs, and NitroCharger Sport Shocks I recently installed in my 2nd Gen. Like Juforrest, I find both provide a solid, stable ride that's slightly more firm than stock.

IMO, the key when lifting your Tacoma is to install a quality suspension lift (which OME is) and stay at/below 3" of lift (which you can easily do).

If I'm not mistaken, Wheelers sells spacers for fine tuning of the bump stops on their site. You might want to check with them, but these look like they might work:

I have had my full OME kit with 885 springs installed since Friday. I love the ride, just like the last two posts, just a little firmer than stock. The front won't dip down all the time either.

You might want to look into getting the HD shocks with the kit. My truck "slams down" when going over speed bumps, one member said that the HD shocks will fix this problem. This is the only complaint I have with the kit.

For anyone with similar set up I hope this helps.

With a double cab long bed with a high clearance steel bumper, tire in the bed, hi lift and what ever tools, running a cap get the dakars with the extra leaf. Save you in the long run. I know someone running a besttop super top with the dakars + extra leaf and he is loving that set up as well in case your not running as much weight back there.

    Pictures for comparison.
