Naw. The past several years I always had a problem with my silver nuts. I just lived with it. Never believed that there was a common problem with Tacoma nuts until I found out on TW Which is why I had my black nuts on deck for immediate use once my silver nuts fail. Just didn't want to spend the time to change out all 24 nuts at the same time.

Black nuts... Who knew that would be my nut of choice?

Nope. You don't want this as well. I've had the tire center shear off the stud from over torquing.

I'd take swollen nuts over a sheared off stud any day. That would hurt.

Apparently this is a common problem amongst many TW'ers. Except Nick's nuts were not really swollen, but more like ---deformed.
@Crom black nuts solution is here.

Man you guys will never know the nut struggle til your nuts strip out and fuse themselves to the stud, and then the splines spin on the hub. Early isuzu's with steel wheels had those flat/spring washers on em and the spec was only 65 ft/lb. man we made a killing on replacing them.

Working on nuts should really be done by an experienced M.D. Not a shadetree guy like me with an old hammer and some sockets.
