Yeah, but stick welding aluminum is like playing Beethoven on the piano with your right hand, while driving a motorcycle at 100 mph through LA traffic with your left hand. Virtually blindfolded.

If you can get the cutting and welding down, it's just a matter of making a template out of cardboard and duct tape.

What a fucking pain in the ass. I got it installed, not pleased but I am content. If I had to do it over I would double down and go with a name brand.

I'll post details after getting back with the seller.

Got my rear bumper on. no problems getting on. I have ordered the all pro hidden hitch, so when that gets in i'll see if it fits well.

@Donefore tagged you incase you unsusbscribed. I came up with an irreversible fix, but it works and probably the only real solution.

Pop the trim pieces out and measure from the bumper to center of the hole the green clip goes in. Then put the trum piece on a flat surface and measure up to center of green clip. Add 1/16" and that's what needs removed from the bottom.

I used a dremmel with a cut off wheel for plastic and it did a fair job. It is ribbed and has a lot of material on the clip end, but it's hollow.

When I closed my hood these pieces were holding the grille up, the hood slammed the grille down and they would pop out. Chipped the paint on them so wemt ahead and cut these and ordered a replacement pair to have painted if I go back to stock.20160710_174037.jpg 20160710_175817.jpg 20160710_175819.jpg 20160710_175843.jpg

Here is the fitment issue I had. First 2 images shows the bumper in place and the interference of the line. The 2nd picture shows there was no dropping it down to clear, and the first shows it would take a 1/2" spacer to clear by spacing. Wasn't an option, the bumper actually raised further whenmounted. Other pictures just show the cutout and how much clearance was needed. I cut it wider incase I ever have A/C issues I the line nut can be accessed without removing the bumper. I'll make a dust covdr and drill and tap some holes so it can be removed. Mainly to keep road debris from piercing the line.

So, basically @14 Tacoma, what you had going on that you didn't like was the bumper was spaced too far away from the truck and when you tried to make it sit closer, you encountered other problems as well?
Got news for you, that's the way they fit. Look at pelfrey's, SOS, and about every bumper is set and there is a gap between the grill and bumper, as well as not being completely tight to the fenders. So it fit properly, just you wanted it to be REALLY close to grill and fenders. Go out wheeling and you'll figure out why they weren't such a close fit.

I just wonder ehat the AC line looks like in others. Hopefully those that have installed checked the clearance. Last thing you want is a hole rubbed in the high pressure line.

Um no, the bumper would not go low enough, see first two pictures. I would have had to elongate all the slots probably a 1/2 inch and remove the bracing that extends the length of the front end below the headlights.

I appreciate your insight, just not your insinuation of my intentions.20160709_155428.jpg

'14, I'm wondrring if these weren't mocked up on 05-11's and sold as 05-15 not knowing changes of the front end affected AC placement or something

My Ac line just touched with no spacers, I was able to make a small 1 inch v cut on the bend and have plenty of clearance. The line doesn't even go through the bumper, I could easily have made a small plate to cover the cut. My issue is my left to right, looks like the passenger side doesn't sit back as far as driver side. I'm prob going to have to space the one side 1/4 inch to level it out. I am going to try and grab some pics and post.

I was hoping for a way to shim, thought maybe I missed something the first go around.

If I could shim and wasn't going to make a one piece shim I was going to use shims for alignments on older cars and trucks. They also use them for shimming body panels. Don't have to take the bumper off for washers. Pretty cheap at auto stores and have varying thicknesses.

Hmmm, looks like the 05-12 AC condensor is different than the 13-15's?

Battery on phone is about to die, but quick google shop search shows different ones.

Parts geek says there is one up to March 2012 and a different one for after March 2012. Interesting

I'm curious as to the exact change now. Guessing all the other bumpers probably have a clearance tolerance that allots for this subtle yet very important change.

For some reason they changed something mid year during '12 builds. Wonder if there is a TSB out there for an issue that arouse on the 2012 design rollout.

How did you guys secure your fender liners, I cut a small amount off mine and tucked it into the bumper and my passenger side will not stay in, I had use zip ties to secured it. I thought about drilling three small holes on the underneath of each side and using 3 zip ties for a clean look.

Saw this thread pop up on the recent threads and thought "no way this is still going on"...

I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. Nor surprised that I read the 20pages I was behind to catch back up.

What I am most surprised at is the number of bumpers OP actually sold through his shenanigans.

That asshole is one smart asshole...
