    Hi all

First post, new member to TW

So I pulled the trigger and traded my pos 2014 Silverado. I must say I am so much happier with my new Tacoma. A few issues I have noticed since buying this truck.

    1. No power seats, okay can live without it but really isn't this 2016, cmon Toyota

    2. No grease on drive line zerks. No big deal, told the dealer to grease them up and they did.

    3. Chirping, cricket noises. After reading multiple threads ie: Scion, Subaru isolated the noise to the high pressure fuel pump. No big deal put 300ml of Lucas oil Upper cylinder lube in the tank and 200 ml of star tron enzyme fuel treatment in the tank before filling up = crickets gone and a quieter smoother engine. Hope this one helps others as it was driving me nuts. Read til my eyeballs bled to figure this one out

Now onto better things as the little issues are gone.

Installed some nice BFG KO2's 265/70R 17, thanks to this forum and all the posts a perfect fit.

Installed a nice 30 inch hidden light bar behind the bumper again thanks to TW and all the excellent posts and installation instructions. Piece of cake well only with the right mounts from MojaveMadman @ Apex fabworks.

Installed Highlift with custom mounts from RCI

    Installed led interior lights

Next up will be some bilstein 5100's set at .85, new sliders from Mobtown. LEDs Hi,Lo and fogs.

May have to go for a stereo upgrade, Non JBL system isn't loud enough, looking at ********* recurve system.

Overall super happy with my Tacoma and I would do it all over again.

I did drive the auto before buying the manual as I read the many negative complaints about the auto. Those posts made up my mind. Again thanks to this forum as it was the right decision for me.

Hopefully I will enjoy many years of reliability and enjoyment from my new Tacoma. As for the Chevy it can go die at the Levy. No more Domestics for this camper...☺

Funny you should mention the shake at 65-75mph cause that was a big problem with mine. GM couldn't fix it either. Went thru 3 sets of tires and a different set of rims, no fix. It was the biggest reason I got rid of it. It's too bad cause it was a nice truck but it was just too much of a headache to deal with. I bought a vehicle to drive and enjoy not shake and go to the dealer every other week. That Chevy spent more time at the dealer's than it did in my driveway.

Fingers crossed. :) After living with a 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the last 10 years I am ready for some reliability from both of my vehicles.

Nice truck! Just got rid of my 14' GMC Sierra (I truly think they are the best looking trucks on the road, but I hated driving something I wasn't happy with) and plan on getting the 17' Tacoma DCSB OR MT. Can't wait till they come out. Just like you, I really wish Toyota invested in some modern vehicle options but I'll live without some power seats, mirrors etc to drive a truck I enjoy. Heck I enjoy driving my 06 Tacoma MT more then my Sierra. For as worn as the shocks and leaf springs are in that thing, it still rides much better than the Sierra. That thing was so stiff I swear I could feel a piece of confetti If drove over some. Not to mention their CS was a joke. Sad as I had 4 GM trucks in a row but unless they start to care about customers rather then just profits, I'm staying away.

Totally Agree. I started to hate driving my 2014 Silverado. I have had Toyota trucks since back in 83 with my last one in the 90's. Always wanted another one and just love this new truck. I get up in the morning and take one look at it before getting in and it brings a smile to my face. Love the way it looks and drives. The manual shifting is a bonus, didn't realize how much I missed shifting my own gears as I was brought up on standard. GMC / Chevy has one of the best looking full size trucks on the market but the CS and problems with it became unbearable for me. I have no regrets other than losing a couple years of payments but as they say you only live once and it's better to be happy. Looking forward to the many mods that I am planning on doing to this truck. Glad that this forum is here as the information shared by its members has been really helpful when choosing mods. however my wallet is really taking a beating. lol, I'm sure everyone can agree on that one...

    Hi, welcome.

What? Seriously? I had a BRZ and I had never heard of this solution. Wild. Curious if it comes back in a few thousand miles and how often you would have to reapply.

From what I've learned it has to do with ethanol gas. It would only chirp or make a cricket noise after driving for an hour. It also depended on the outside temp. On cool days no problem. On warmer days would show up everytime. Initial treatment I put in 300ml of lucas oil upper cylinder lube fuel treatment and some star tron fuel enzyme treatment. Star ton is from my boat treatment but not really needed but I put in cause I had it. Google high pressure fuel pump chirp and you will see many posts regarding the issue. Next treatment I will go with 150ml, I also switch to no ethanol gas but that may be tough for some to find. I had an immediate improvement and the chirping noise went away almost right away. The next day I noticed the engine ran way smoother and less clicking noise from the injectors. Try it out and see if you notice a smoother engine. Some other are running a little semi synthetic low ash 2 stroke oil and that is also reportedly working.

The noise (as determined by Fuji engineers) is caused by cavitation (bubbles) in the high pressure pump with certain fuel blends in certain conditions. It makes sense to me that adding a lubricant to the fuel can affect the noise, as the oil changes the surface tension of the fuel making it less likely to foam up.

The only potential downside is the additives may reduce the octane rating of the fuel, but 2 oz. per tank is negligible.
