Ok, I have had my Tacoma for about 10 months and already on my 3rd windshield and had a chip fixed on one. So in 10 months that is 3 incidents on this truck.

I realize that shit happens, but 3 times in less than a year seems excessive to me and not sure if I should just chalk it up to bad luck or if maybe the angle of the trucks windshield is so that it is more prone to this?

Has anyone else had an issue with excessive rock chips and cracks. I only drive like 20 miles to and from work on a highway.

    Brent-

Yeah pretty much every single Toyota truck I have owned (87, 90, 95, 2004, 2006, 2013) has had its windshield replaced.
My 1995 VW Cabrio still has its original windshield.
My 2013 went the longest. I just got a new windshield last month.
    I hope I didn't jinx myself oops.
Sorry, the windshields suck probably for all the reasons you listed, angle and flex and highway.

Thanks for the feedback! I hope you didn't jinx yourself either and it is just a streak for bad luck on my part!

Had 2015 for about 3 months and some idiot was speeding in a dump truck, needless to say a rock hit the windshield so hard it wedge the piece of rock onto the windshield. I didn't notice until it started to crack within hours the crack got bigger. It got replaced only to have another ass clown drive excessively and cause a chip on the new windshield.

When my '11 was fairly new I was up in Canada on the road to Labrador City. It is a dirt road used by large mining trucks. During that trip a rock about the size of a baseball came off of one of those trucks and hit my windshield over the steering wheel area about forehead high. The rock did smash the windshield, but did not penetrate into the cabin. I really think that the glass saved my life as the rock hit when traveling at about 45mph. When I had it fixed after getting back home the repair guy was very impressed with the glass' performance. So, the glass seems tough enough to me!
Getting a rock hit is simply a matter of luck and has nothing to do with windshield construction.

In New Mexico, windshields are a wear item. Even if you avoid chips/cracks (and you won't), it'll be sandblasted to a nice haze within a year.

You're in TX so I'm guessing there's a lot of chip seal on the roads. That probably contributes as well.
