So they already declared it a total loss? Did they put together an estimate already?

They said biased on the pictures and the explanation of the accident, damage, and that its So new they think it will be a total loss. An estimator will look at it at the auction yard.

Having a state legislature that wants to convert all legal gun owners into felons doesn't help attract non tax parasites.

Did you offer to pay more than the auction company?
    Parting out would be nice.

No one has thrown any numbers out yet. They said that in the described accident, damage, and pictures it would be sent to their first. They do this to eliminate a step of going to a body shop then to the auction block. Nothing is officially totaled yet. If I weren't moving cross country in a week I would think about fixing it but with the move the easiest thing is to total it out and get a new truck.

There are lots of steps between now and totaled.

    1) Since you are the claimant, USAA will not pay for more than they are likely able to recover from the insured. The Insured's adjuster will come out and estimate repair costs.

    2) If cost of repairs plus rental reimbursement is well short of 75% of value, it's very unlikely that they total.

    3) If they total, bank gets their money first. You'll get the difference between payoff (amount paid to bank) and appraised value, if you don't own it outright. Being that it's so new, you should shoot for at least 100% of the sale price, but you may have to fight for them to keep you whole.

    4) Once you're square with the bank and the Auction company gets to place their bid, you may have an opportunity to pick it up for that price.

Good luck man. Sorry that you're having to go through all this at such a sub-optimal time with the move and all.

Thanks for keeping us all posted and letting us watch how it all plays out.

I'm pretty right of center and don't intend to get into a political shouting match, but that statement is ridiculous. Any person who has spent a significant amount of time on San Diego and "hated it" has some screws loose.

Unfortunately we are well aware of the process. Pushing it to be done and decisions made in a week is the hard part. Next Friday were leaving for Colorado.

Too crowded, Water too cold, Cloudy overcast marine layer half the time. Lived on the beach in SoCal for 10 years. Taxes too high, air is polluted, traffic sucks ass and everything is overpriced.

I will add Maryland/wash DC area to that list. High property taxes poor schools. Political system all corrupt and rigged. People for the most part act just like animals when it comes to treating one another with respect

You see OP. You wanted to keep your next truck for at least 10 years. Suggest that you stick with Toyota

I wonder how that would have fared with a military wrapped leafpack.
