Sorry dude, but damn it looks great!

I will be getting a '17 Taco & need the look as well, but also gotta have some additional ground clearance , as I off-road

My black '13 kind of resembles yours, but with Toy tech basic lift & 285's.

That's a good looking off road machine Craig! I've been to Boulder many times but never there.

Drop bracket lifts can be reversed. Just takes a good welder to weld back in the cross member.

OP....Thanks for your honesty....I suspect most folks will never admit when they've made a choice that doesn't work out for them...(This thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread.....I'd never make a mistake, I love it...etc).

I love my truck but on the other hand I'll sure complain about it's short comings in hopes Toyota will improve them.....I don't have any axes to grind.

Again thanks for telling Tacoma World about your honest experiences!

Hey just read all posts however what bothers me most is:

''Get more educated before you buy. Don't be me!! Haha ''

''I order and installed through a local dealer''

Regardless of your 'education on lifts' the dealer should have asked you what you actually wanted from your lift & told you how the kit would perform. He had an opportunity to up sell you to something 'crazier and better performing and more $$, perhaps but didn't.

    Anyway looks badass.

Sorry for the late response. I'm running wifi off of my engine computer to the IPad. It links to an app called Dash Command. The dash command is pretty cool. It basically reads out all your engine data like torque, horsepower, quarter mile times with read outs, and other interesting things. There was an app on my iPhone plus called Zilla I think it was. It was pretty useless. Ran off gps to measure g forces and other things. Looked cool though. The iPhone mounts to a NiteEyes ball magnet for the air vent. Not the glue mount. I'll get the wifi set up name tonight. I forgot the brand. I got most everything off Amazon though.

Sorry to hear this lift didn't work out the way you had hoped.:( I will say that it does look badass though!!

I'd be curious to know how may of these this shop had installed as i'm sure the clanks and rattles can be worked out, good luck with them. As for the bump stops and no down travel, i'm thinking that they may use the same bump stop and bracket for both the 4" and 6" kits (they list the same in the install instructions) and that the bump stops are to be trimmed for use on the 4". The way they are now with less than in inch between the LCA and the stop just seems wrong. Also the 4" blocks in the rear are going to create a huge amount of axle wrap if it were me I would want that addressed, maybe with some lower link such as those used in the 6" and up rear lifts for F series fords.

All of the usual lifts we see here don't give a tremendous amount of clearance at the xmember/diff, this is why we measure our lifts from center wheel hub to fender. Larger tires are the only way to gain clearance at the diff.

I know this is late, but I wouldn't throw in the towel. Your ride issues are 95% due to your tires, and 5% rear blocks. You do realize those are the same tires I have on my 1 ton Dodge, remember your truck came with P-rated tires, and you installed an E2 rated tire. A front coilover drop spacer has nothing to do with anything with ride quality. Bump stops can easily be swapped out. 3" rear blocks with the shitty stock springs will give you all sorts of axle wrap and horrible performance offroad. Also, your shitty mpg is because of the large heavy tires. From what I've read stock 6th gear is borderline useless, and now you have compounded it with tires and worse aerodynamics leading to the engine having to work harder to maintain speed.

Truck looks good, just work out the kinks. Unfortunately this is an expensive hobby, that won't get you laid.

What did you end up doing?? I have the same kit and emailed BDS about getting rid of the spacers, because I think that is whats making the thumping noise I have too. They told me that I could by the coils for the 6 inch kit, and that they would be long enough to get rid of the spacer. I'm trying to decide if I want to do it or not
