While I was sitting at a traffic light Saturday Night in Virginia Beach a 2016 Tacoma pulls up in the right lane and stops about a truck length ahead of me.

I am looking it over, not too impressed with the new lines, when he begins to backup. My first thought was he's going to tell me how much he loves his new Tacoma. Instead I get this ...

"This friggin' thing sucks, it rides like crap, the engine is shit ... what a mistake." He looks mine up and down and says, "I never thought I would say this but I should have kept my '14."

That's funny, every 3rd gen i see on the highway does everything they can do to pass me while I'm just trying to go with the flow of traffic. Makes me smile.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

Based on all of the 3rd Gen Sucks Stories I've seen here, I can't help but wonder what this has done for the sale of the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon. Not saying they are any better than the '16 Tacoma...just sayin'.

Those things look less like offroad vehicles than even the 3rd gen does. Talk about grocery getter....

Not all Tacoma's are offroad, though I must admit my '15 PreRunner looks a bit more manly than the Colorado/Canyon.

Cool story, whatever makes you feel better, but my 16 has been better than every one of my past 5 tacomas (15, 11, 08 and 00).

Not at all, I've had them all (1st, 2nd and 3rd gen) bud no regrets, mine has none of the issues that people reported, I get better gas mileage, the interior is light years better, cabin is incredibly quiet, ride is smoother than my 2nd gens and I get compliments everywhere I go. I think a lot of 2nd gen owners post shit like this to make themselves feel better about not having the newest Tacoma anymore. I'm in the camp of each truck is different, they all have their strong and weak points, but there are a lot of things better about the 3rd gen than the 2nd gen but also some shortfalls with the smaller engine and feel I do miss my 4.0 and the simplicity of the 2nd gen works better for some, just like my 1st gen was bulletproof and could take it anywhere for trails, etc. But anyone that thinks one gen is better than the other is just kidding themselves. The 3rd gen minus the slow acceleration is a positive evolution of the 2nd gen, carries over all the great things and improves on a lot too.

Your 2016 has much better acceleration than the referenced 2016.

Agreed, this is my chief and only complaint. The 2016 is stupid slow to accelerate/get up to speed, my GF's Corolla is better.

Good write-up .... acceleration was one of his comments (bitches) as well. I am in my 5th Toyota pickup ... each has gotten better. How's the mileage? I continue to hover about 20 mpg.
