Absolutely ZERO difference in them. What is your point? You pay someone to repair your truck should it implode. Doesn't matter whether it is a factory extended warranty, something a big dealership provides directly (i.e. our local honda dealer provides lifetime coverage on the drive train assuming you let them do the oil changes and such). Or whether the dealership contracts with any of several dozen extended warranty companies. All are EXACTLY the same thing. A cash cow for the seller, a cash drain for the consumer.

You kind of get almost some of the facts right. Keep going, then no one will have any doubt.

BTW, simple economics: Profit = income - costs. So no, a 30K truck is not 30K profit. There is a cost. For a warranty, the only cost is incurred when/if the customer makes a claim. Otherwise cost = 0, profit = entire price of warranty.

I don't care if it is shared between Toyota corporate and the dealership, or with Tiny Tim. Still nothing but profit until a loss is incurred.

    Too few to list.
It's a capitalist world. Profit has to be made as nothing is truly free. Those who can afford buy and those who can't don't. So extended warranties worth it? Not to most but again, if you have a 2012-15 with the air injection pump, it's gonna fail.
I disagree. Entire price of unused warranty is not just profit. There are still minimal cost accrued from advertising and material cost (booklet, warranty cards, postage, etc...)

So to answer the question in this thread, is extended warranty worth it? In the case of owning 2012-2015 Tacoma that has a prone to failure air injection system that exceeds the cost of warranty, I'm my opinion it would be wise to purchase before the 3yr/36K factory warranty ends.

I'm one of the guy he's ignoring because he likes to whine when someone disagrees with him and his arguments are always shit reasoning, then gets defensive when someone calls him out on something. As this post which pretty much summed up the last 11 pages of discussion with needless crying that they don't like someone's opinions so ignore them. Some people.

Because warranty sales rely on the customer's fear that something will go wrong. It may be a very reliable vehicle, but everyone has that worry that it will need some costly repair. That is why so many people buy it, despite its proven track record.

Alright, well....I can understand both sides. It does seem like some just want to be negative and criticize others to prove a fk point. Nothing wrong with those of us who choose to buy one and can afford it, nothing wrong with those who choose not to. So, I was just back at dealership to get my reimbursement check for my window tint and I actually bought back my extended warranty for $1,113 for 84 months/75k Platinum wrap. I only drive about 10k per year on average, so I will get my 84 months, not too worried about the miles. I could have got 100k but it would have ran me little over 1,400. Same amount of months.

So, $159 per year over course of warranty. We already max our retirement accounts, truck will be paid off this year, and I got a nice damn truck with a peace of mind. All of you who refused will be the ones starting more bs threads about mechanical issues, paying more than my 1100. I also keep a 600k life insurance policy for my family, but if I never use it, great! I also insure my awesome house so if shit happens we are covered, but some of you probably don't believe in protecting your assets do you? Hey, whatever works for you. You go save your $13 per month for repairs, good luck having enough in that account come first issue.

It's all good. I'm new guy here, so I'd like to get along with all, after all we are here to learn, explore, and help others hopefully, but we have times when we don't see eye to eye, no big deal.

I have 84 months, so that's 7 years, not 6. Have you looked at the difference between the power train warranty and platinum warranty? The platinum warranty covers a lot more than power train. I completely understand what you are saying and again see both sides. I feel there is no right or wrong answer here, each person must do what they believe is best option for them and within their means financially. I don't trust any third party warranties after reading some reviews and talking to others I know. So, if I never use it, then I have a damn good truck for 7 years. I honestly can't see me keeping any vehicle for longer than 8-10 years, unless I just love it and want a car and keep old truck. So, while I have it, it's covered most of time. Also, if I sell I get reimbursed pro rated, not too bad.

Why do I offend you so much, more importantly why do you even care or choose to throw my name randomly into a post for no relevant reason, I wouldn't respond to you if you didn't for some reason feel the need to talk about me ill informed and in the wrong. Might I remind you I'm the OP for this thread. Dude you are coming off as a MAJOR TOOL, please stop while you are ahead. And your a bit confused on how the extended warranties work bud. You can get them in any combination of year mileage from 5 yr/75000 to 8yr/125000, not just powertrain either it is bumper to bumper like your 3 yr/36000. Some people's kids, grow up bud.

I paid $1,113, which is lower than many others have paid and they simply wouldn't budge any lower, he was take or leave. That's $159 per year, not bad in my opinion. Yea, I'm not USAA but my cousin is and I've heard nothing but great things. I would trust them most likely, but not most insurance companies with third party warranties.

How many of you got an extended warranty and how many of you wish you had gotten the extended warranty?

With this rear end howl/whine, I wish I would have gotten the extended warranty.

I was very fortunate, when I bought my 16, Toyota gave me a lifetime warranty on the entire drivetrain..

Yea I wasn’t going to but looking at all these little issues they could cost a lot. May be worth the $850

You can still purchase a Toyota Extended Warranty anytime during the first 3 years and 36K miles

Doesn’t the price go up because of the increased mileage?

I have never gotten an extended warranty on a Toyota since my first Toy in 1992. This one, I did. Got the 72 month
