Ever since I bought my limited 6 months ago I have always disliked the giant front bracket for the license plate. I wanted to still run the front license plate just to be "legal". I bought an angled license plate frame that I have used for other cars of mine. The holes that were drilled for the oem bracket where spaced far apart, however the bracket I bought was made of ABS plastic so I was able to drill holes into it so I wouldn't have to make any more holes in my bumper.

I didn't like the side profile of the oem bracket and the bracket I bought took care of that. I understand it still stocked out about 1 inch but that doesn't bother me.

Has anyone else bought or made a different license plate bracket to get rid of the awful oem one?

Cleanest look may be to just screw the plate (with frame) directly to bumper.

License plate frame is painted the same color as the vehicle.

I would mount the plate directly to the bumper but the bumper holes are spaced differently than the license plate holes.

Plate is still mounted in a visible manor on the front bumper as stated in the RCW.

I like the way I did it better, but it only works without the air dam.

Looks clean only issue I have is the giant holes I would have in my bumper from the oem bracket.

Did you fill the holes or did u buy a new bumper valence? I wanted the dealer to not drill in the bumper when I bought mine but they did it and told me "they forgot"

Mine came with the bracket sitting in the back seat, so I never had to worry about that.

I don't think the OP's solution looks any better than the OEM bracket. If anything I think it draws MORE attention to the license plate holder, and it looks out of place. I just use the plate holder that came with the truck and never thought twice about it. Would rather not give the police any more reason to pull me over. Not into "mods" simply "because 3rd Gen", either. But others have time and money to burn, so have at it and have fun!

Why not drill new holes in the plate to match up with existing holes in the bumper. I was looking at doing this to my truck but will probably go with after market off-road armor to replace the stock bumper.
