I am looking into getting a floor jack to work on my Tacoma with. I am kinda lost on what a quality brand is, also any help on what height I should get as I am looking into lifting the truck 3" for now with bigger tires. Thank you all for the help.

Some people will tell you to spend a whole bunch of money on a jack that will be able to lift it. You can get a floor jack from harbor freight and use a chunk of 4x4 in between the jack and the frame and it'll work just fine. The Harbor Freight ones cost about $100 and will last you quite a long time.

I picked up one from Harbor Freight, works great, cheap, 19-3/4 in lift height, and you can find good coupons.

The one I have is faded orange and white (now). I bought it on sale for $40...I actually bought 2 and 4 jackstands and sold the other jack and two jackstands at a yard sale.., I still have one jack and two jackstands and its still holding strong.

If you get a harbor freight jack, pick up a bottle of jack oil too. Costs $5 and will keep your jack running forever. Most negative reviews say the jack stops lifting after a bit, but topping off the oil and bleeding the system prevents that. It's all in the jack manual

Just made that, but in all seriousness ive had my HF 3 ton since 2011 and its never failed me. The handle screw went missing, but its okay i use the top half of the handle as a breaker bar anyhow just slip it over the ratchet.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I will play devils advocate. I personally do not care for harbor freight but to each there own. Look for one of the craftsman deals for around $100 that comes with a 3 ton jack and stands. If you want a really nice set budget $300 for an aluminum jack from Summit or something of the like. For me and having little ones running around I just can't bring myself to trust a product from HF.

I can understand, but that's what jack stands are for. Keeps anything from dropping unexpectedly.

And are of the same quality as the jack that has just failed in this scenario. Again I am not talking trash on HB as I am not well versed in items they offer as I do not use them just providing my .2
