Wow I don't think I've ever seen any advertised discount for a Tacoma.

just got this email back today after asking for some info on the new ones

"Thank you for your recent correspondence.

At the present time, we do not have any information available regarding the 2017 Tacoma. Traditionally, information, including brochures and pricing, is available closer to the launch date, which has not yet been announced. We suggest visiting our website www.toyota.ca from time to time; the website is updated as the information becomes available.

Although we are unable to provide the information that you have requested, we thank you for taking the time to write. Your interest in Toyota is truly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Mark Hendriks
    Customer Assistance Centre
    Toyota Canada Inc."

I belive tss is a sr5 with some silly doodads added to it that apparently a large number of people in texas are dumb enough to spend the extra money on.

I think the TSS edition is just like the Texas edition in that its a regional package/trim level. Honestly usually its nothing more than an exhaust, some floor mats that say TSS, different badges on the side of the truck and maybe some different wheels.

They did they same thing with Tundras too. Google search TSS tundra and you should get some hits and info.

Do you have record, or did you not get a build sheet with your order? Mine came with one and showed the build date.

You may have a point there. When I ask the dealer for the VIN number he told me he would have it for me in a couple of weeks. He stated that the order was submitted and my build sheet with cost should be available in about two weeks. My guess is that this truck will be part of the dealerships first allocations. Maybe this explains why they did not ask me for a deposit because they don't have the official build sheet

I talked to my dealer yesterday. He told me they do already have allocations for 2017s with build dates in mid/late July and delivery in mid/late August. Unfortunately my truck is not in their first allocations

as long as there aren't any major differences from one year to the next, i don't see the risk in buying/ordering a 2017 in 2016. but the main reason i bought a 2017 is simply b/c they weren't making what i wanted in 2016 anymore.

idk but i was told mid-August. i wouldn't be surprised if that timing slips but for now i'm going to trust the date they've given me. when did you order your 2016? just curious.

Minus the guy who was friends with Carol Shelby the TSS still doesnt sound very interesting. Now if it had performance mods like a Shelby that would be a different story. Also if you read the link you sent to Wikipedia it says that Shelby introduced Friedkin to toyota and did not create the Shelby, which makes sense since i was pretty sure Carol Shelby did that.

That makes sense, Grapevine Toyota is affiliated with them. I didnt think the price was all that bad, about $31K after the promo discount. But regardless I'm gonna stick with the 4 banger a year or two, see if the price wars heat up a bit..maybe then they'll have solved that V6 vibration issue too.
