You know, that amount of rake isn't too bad in all honesty. Now you're making me reconsider haha

Not the greatest pictures, but I just had a full OME set up w/881's and the Dakars w/o aal installed and the rake fairly gentle. I believe the 882s are the same spring as the 881s just slightly longer. Provided that is correct, the extra length would probably get you pretty close to level.

My truck is the same as yours, just a year younger. I currently don't have any weight up front, but plan on adding a Trial Gear low profile bumper. I was a little wary of the rake angle at first, but once it everything was installed I was very happy with it. From a performance aspect, the entire systems runs 100x better than stock, so you will not be disappointed in that regard.

Hope any of this helps

This pic is taken on a slight incline, so there maybe a little exaggeration of the rake

I was really stoked when I saw it all come together. I ordered my whole kit from Cruiser Outfitters and they asked me a bunch of questions regarding my plans for my truck and then set me up with everything.

I've read a lot about the differing spring rates. To anyone that has used 881/882 vs 883, is the differece THAT noticeable? I only ask because I used 883's on my 03 and I feel the ride is just fine. I also have a '16 with full fox remotes all around, so that's all I can compare to. The fox suspension will soak up just about anything I've thrown at it, but the OME kit in my 03 WITH 883/dakars/aal does a GREAT job and rides very well comparatively.

Having brain fade. Can anyone point me to a thread that lays out OME suspension kit install procedures on a first gen? Looking for the step by step installation procedures. Can only find 2nd gen install threads. Thanks!

    Yes.
    I ran 881, 883, then 882 and stayed with the 882.
    Start here, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bretts-average-build-thread.305098/page-2#post-7884568
it's when I noticed the 881's couldn't hold the weight of a bumper, so I went to 883's, which rode pretty good but lacked flex with what I had. The 882's i tried and they gave me back the lift I had originally and also flexed to the bumps when needed.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like for my 2" lift I will have to go 881s

Found the upper strut plate "support" (OEM Part# 48609-35010). Bought them online here:

    http://parts.olathetoyota.com/toyot...-cat/front-suspension-scat/?part_name=support

Olathe Toyota was courteous and helpful over the phone and was able to confirm the right part by using the VIN.

Actually, not really with me right now. Best I can do now is a shot of me putting a sticker on the bike.

Just purchased/installed an OME suspension kit from Wheelers Offroad on my ’04 DC TRD 4x4 V6.

I give Wheelers Offroad an “A” – great work.

Too early to grade the OME suspension kit.

Truck has been used for the past 12 years to haul toys. Goal was to enhance driving experience, without sacrificing ride quality.

    Some preliminary findings...

    Installation: Acceptable.

After weeks of BP blaster on everything... 1 of 2 forward leaf spring bolts was seized in the bushing. Had to cut the bolt out and run to store. At this price point, recommend all replacement bolts be included in the kit, to include new rear shock bolts/washers.

Listing of torque specs would have been nice.

Instructions (or at least a sequence of events) would have been helpful for the leaf pack removal and installation. Lots of kinetic energy hiding in those springs.

Ride: Subjective – based on a 10 mile road/dirt field test drive.

Compression – 25% stiffer than old OEM springs. Reasonable NVH. Feels like much thicker sways in the corners. Composed.

Rebound - 75% better feel/composure. Dampens/stabilizes chassis movements significantly. Most notable feature.

    Ride height:

Gained 3” up front. Measured from bottom lip of rim to wheel arch: Was 28.75. Now 31.75. Went with 881. Expect some settling.

Gained 3.5” in back. Measured from bottom lip of rim to wheel arch: Was 29.5. Now 33. Dakar.

For the first time in about 5 years, did not feel the small “thunk” when I came to a stop or pulled off the line. Bye-bye axle wrap.

    No Dakar squawk.

Did not use exhaust hanger because Magnaflow SS cat back goes through leaf back, as opposed to under.

Back should settle. Have not reinstalled the ARE cap, thule basket, and kayak racks yet. Nor spare tire.

Have not reinstalled the firestone ride rite airbags yet.

    Obligatory poser picture.
