    piddly stuff
i guess i'm just old school with the tires i like them wide the last 4wd i had that i took off road was an 86 cj7 with 35x 14.5's on it that thing would go anywhere.. i guess that's why i screwed up on suspension also i was used to dealing with straight axles and leaf springs front and back

You can run wide and tall tires I mean I've got 35×12.5 and heavy ass steel wheelso but I also regeared and I load the crap out of my truck as well when its in expo mode. Most of what we do and how we change things is based on experiences I've learned a lot the deeper into this build I get. I'm still learning fortunately the only thing I've had to redo is the leafs... read lots and try stuff you'll find the direction you want to go that way

What a trip!!!! Thursday June 30th my gf and I loaded up the truck and embarked on a 9 day 2800+km journey that would take us all over British Columbia and into the breathtaking national parks spread along the BC/Alberta boarder.

On the first afternoon I got off work pretty early and was able to get the kayaks and the tent all ready to rock.

The gf ended up getting off work kinda late so by the time we had loaded up the truck and fought through the long weekend traffic it's was getting close to 9pm when we hit the dirt road just outside the town of Boston Bar in the middle of the Fraser Canyon. While setting up camp it was at this moment I realized we had left the poles for the rtt on the kitchen table, luckily it was 35C even at 10pm so I just rolled up the fly and used the sky portion of my kukenam for the first time
(I took these the next morning at 530am)

This also marked the last time my gf was allowed to zip up the rain cover. Because the local dealer for tepui refused to warranty the clips which tighten the tent down when folded up I haven't gotten around to fixing them or contacting tepui so the little flap that hangs off the bottom got caught in the zipper. Ultimately the only solution was to yank on it ripping the flap a bit.

Refusing to be down about it I poured some extra bailey's in my coffee and we pressed on. The next stop was the abandoned ski town of Phoenix bc. There is nothing left of the town except for some open pit mines and quaries that are now lakes and the war memorial from the 40s

One of the kayaks got loose on the fsr and slid into the cab.

This was really cool it's the old exit and section of the highway that went to the town that's been left since they moved the highway when the town was abandoned.

Our next destination was the town of kaslo BC, and the MT Lavine fire tower. We never made it to the tower although I was tempted by the shelf roads that lead to the glaciers but the rolling clouds had the peak socked in so we decided to just camp for the night and boy did we find a beauty spot

Many beers later we turned in for the night I would have loved to have had the roof open for this as it was the only day/night we didn't have mosquitoes everywhere, but we kept getting these 5 minute rain storms blowing in over the mountain.

Our next stop was Rogers Pass inside Glacier National Park BC. Once only accessible to the most daring adventurers this site sees millions of visitors a year since the completion of the number 1 hwy in 1962.

We pressed on all the way to Golden BC where we found a campsite at the base of the local ski hill to stay for the night and couple hours later some overlanders from France were circling the camp looking for a place to stay. I offered up ours and we spent the night telling tales of our travels over the beers by the fire

We hit the road at 7am (a common theme for us) and made our way through Yoho National Park and across the BC/ Alberta boarder to the wonderful alpine scenery of Lake Louise.

This day was a heavy travel day as we spent time around Lake Louise then traveled through Banff National Park to Kootenay National Park, re entering BC and ending up at the Radium Hot springs for some well needed cleansing lol. We made our way back to the town of Banff and then found ourselves on the road to Jasper National Park stopping at Mosquito Creek not to bad of a view either

We made our way into the town of Jasper and stocked up on seem essentials (coffee and more bailey's) we then said goodbye to the National Parks and made our way back to BC and back to exploring the endless network of fsr's and camping spots

We found ourselves in the town of Clearwater BC and a quick rip on the dirt roads and a few side trails found us at Lolo lake

We spent the night and made our way to the highway and slowly made our way home where I've been cleaning mud out of the truck and tent ever since

It's a great addition to the truck, I still need longer shackles however, if you run the stock ones they hit the flip bracket on the middle hole, but I also need the bamf rear shock relocation kit and some 14" shocks need some more activities out of the rear end of this truck

Ya I've got Ironman 4x4 10" shocks now and they're great, but they're just not enough. I won't get 14" out of the dakars but 13 is better than 12 :) I have issues with gatekeeper lol

How you like the dakars?? I'm debating between allpro standards, dakars, or custom alcans made for a shackle flip. Don't think you can stuff 14's in a BAMF mount but I could be wrong:confused:

I love the dakars I can load em up and my truck is quite fat so they help. Still flex decently as well. It's been done you can stuff 12's into the stock location too just need the right shock. With the 14" shocks you need to space the bumps by 3/4" so it's limited to 13 and 1/4 inch but every inch counts right

Right on I might have to get the Dakar next then! I won't have a hell of a lot of weight back there just a HC rear bumper with tire carrier and a canopy half the year

The bumper and tire carrier are pretty heavy mine caused my truck to lean hard to the passenger side I can't imagine a cap on there too. But once I got the dakars all those problems went away
