Unless you live in Maine; they're not considered a legally binding document, as my cousin found out.

Shrug. Then you don't need to worry about a prenup either way, do you?

ha i'm just saying for those of you in danger of getting hitched

i was on the fence about prenups before, but after going through this last breakup i can see why you need them. we had agreed on terms of an exit before i moved in, and when emotions run high all of that goes out the window

Yeah, they had one of those fun knock-down-drag-out divorces, two lawyers just going nuts. He thought he was all set because they'd signed a prenup, but the judge ignored it and awarded her 50% value on the house he owned before they got married. Ridiculous, because she was working part time and renting an apartment when they got together, and he had built his house himself something like 3 or 4 years previously. Just stupid.

    FTFY.
Although not marrying a cousin is also solid life planning...

Prenups are useless today. The reasons they can be thrown out are absurd and all it takes is for the spouse to say "I didn't really know what I was signing" and boom, you lose half your shit. Maybe everything was done appropriately, your lawyer made your spouse read everything over and had them sign it (be sure they didn't pressure them into signing it - it will get thrown out), and divorce day comes and you are ready to take the keys to your fathers corvette and drive off into the sunset....

But your spouse says, "I didn't have enough time to fully consider what it meant". The judge is going to throw out the prenup. They are a feel good thing to make people feel like they are covered if the shit hits the fan. Your lawyer is going to make some serious money on a paper that really doesn't mean much.

HA, just bought the Cuisinart protable grill on Amazon. It got really, really good reviews and was over 30% off. It was ranked right up there, if not better than the Weber Q series (which is an awesome grill). I got it for $75.

Today is Prime day. To anyone that plans on ordering something today, do you have a charity or organization that you use? If not maybe you could use my kids day camp. He goes to a boys and girls club camp all summer long

    Link; https://smile.amazon.com/?ie=UTF8&ein=04-3200499&ref_=smi_ext_ch_04-3200499_dl

I'm going to be ordering some of these

Nice! I bought a set of solar lights, they're pretty neat and don't take any juice from the camper.

I love Amazon Smile, I'm signed up for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Knowing it's Amazon Prime day, I think a lot of other vendors are jumping on board. I got coupon codes from Autoanything, Bike Bandit, Omaha Steaks, Bob's and Rock Auto this morning.

this is all very hypothetical considering i don't see myself having to go through this, but my future husband and i would have to have separate lawyers to help eliminate some of this from coming up later. and since i'd likely have more assets than the guy i'm marrying i'd make sure to fully disclose everything so they can't use that as leverage later.

but like i said this is all very hypothetical. i plan on dying alone
