Is it possible for the gears to slip and cause the actuator to come out of time in relation to the limit switches?

This part ^^ was confusing. It sounded like you had a SOLID 4L light, but that when you tried to drive, the engine wasn't connected to the wheels. The "neutral" position of these transfer cases would be between 4H and 4L, but isn't accessible to the driver, which would indicate that the 4L position was sensed prematurely.

Since your later posts clarified that the light indicated that it was NOT in 4L, and that the neutral position was actually your transmission, I generally suspect that the issue is in the transfer case actuator.

Yea something in the transfer case isn't working cause the front actuator is working cause it's engaging the front differential

Is it possible to remove the actuator and engage 4hi/4lo manually with a wrench? I sort of remember reading something along those lines in one of the actuator threads.

If the actuator has slipped out of time you might be able to correct the problem or at least verify that the transfer case can engage 4lo manually.

Take this advice as worth what you paid for it, I haven't done this or even know if it can be done...

I believe that its a pull/push rod that will stick out of the transfer case once actuator is removed.

That only happened once when I originally tried to shift back in 4lo. Since then the light blinks but it stays in 4hi
