Last year I met a mechanic who charged the R-12 A/C system in his personal vehicle, 1992 Dodge Dakota with propane instead of retrofitting it to R134a. He said the system worked great.

What year T100? I'm guessing it was a newer one with the 3400 V6 and not an older one with the underpowered 3.0L V6?

My 2012 reg cab barely keeps up down here where it's so hot and muggy. Have to put it on 3 fan and max just to feel comfortable.
Takes a while to cool off the cab after its parked.
On the other hand, have a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim 12k in my house and it'll put frost on the windows for pennies. Wish Toyota could use the same freon Mitsubishi uses, r410a.

And put those wing pads on before you mount the bumper; the bolts are almost impossible to reach once the bumper is set in place.

Key word there is "some punishment." He was ultimately sentenced to 40 days in jail (to be served on weekends), got his driver's license suspended for a year, and had to pay a substantial fine. I think the old man should have lost his license for the rest of his life, because as soon as gets it back he will just go back to drinking and driving, and the next time he could actually hurt someone instead of just damaging another vehicle.

I have a great driving record. I've had my driver's license since 2011 and I've never gotten a ticket of any kind or even been pulled over. I could become an Uber driver with my driving record. Unfortunately, while my truck is new enough for Uber, it doesn't meet their standards because it is a 2-door.

When I plan on drinking, if my parents or a friend are not available, I always call an Uber to take me to the bar or the friend's and get me back home. It's cheaper and faster than a cab. A few weeks ago, my friend and I took an Uber to a local bar, and the vehicle happened to be a 2014 or 2015 Toyota Tacoma crew cab short bed with 4WD, automatic, and the 4.0L V6.

I was just wondering how many owners of 4-door Tacos are Uber drivers and use their Tacos for that purpose? Just last week, the Uber that took me home was a brand new Dodge Ram 1500 Eco Diesel. I've always wondered how much using a truck or large SUV as an Uber vehicle eats into the profits because of gas mileage?

Anyway, does anyone use their Tacoma as an Uber vehicle?

UPDATE (December 2018): Uber allows people to use vehicles as old 1998 for Uber Eats, and obviously since its food instead of people, there isn't a 4-door/4-passenger requirement. As such, I've signed up for Uber Eats and have been doing it for about three weeks now!

I always felt the concept of uber was kind of weird. Getting into a strangers personal vehicle or letting strangers into my personal vehicle.

Hell would have to freeze over for me to let a stranger into my Tacoma. ( unless it was a smoking hot girl that was stranded of course :)

No. I have had my license since I was 16 years old 1971 and I have never had a desire to haul drunks around in my truck.

The only drunk asshole getting in my truck is me. With my old lady driving!

I use Uber all the time and have seen drivers using their Tacomas twice. Doesn't seem ideal since you get much better mileage in a car. One guy had a 2013 4 banger and the other was using his new doublecab off road.

I inquired. Uber responded that the Tacoma wasn't an acceptable vehicle.

Ive seen plenty of Taco Ubers in my old town running around. Ive only used uber twice because I had a couple $30 ride credits. I rode in an Altima and a Tundra. Surprisingly wasn't too creepy. I did bring a large bearded man with me for protection though.

I use my tacoma for uber. I only drive people during the day or between 5-8 at night. I do not want drunk people in my truck so I drive earlier in the night.

I have a double cab short bed. I had no problems registering it as an uber car. image.jpg

How does that differ from any other taxicab? Most taxicabs (except for some big brand fleets, and even then...) are actually the drivers' personal vehicles.
