So get this. I went on saturday to get the transmission fluid check. I marked the bolts to make sure they did the work. They told me 3/4 quart low. I get home and checked the bolts, only the check bolt was moved, note the fill bolt. They lied, i called corporate and the escalated my call to a case manager. She was trashy and told me to take it back to the dealer, nothing they can do about it. I said if theyre so confident about the work being done why not put the warranty. They said no we dont do that. Looks like I'll never go back to toyota and I'll be trading this thing in as soon as i can find another ride. I guess my time with toyota was short lived.

wouldn't it be possible for them to fill it through the check bolt? After all that's where it will need to come out when it is full.. If I was doing service I would probably try to fill it there rather than a different location on the transmission and wait for it to trickle down. Then again, I don't work for Toyota.

OP, were you asking for a fluid change? I agree with cavedog, if they were just correcting for a low level then I wouldn't expect the drain plug to be pulled.

No i wanted the level checked, to check you have to remove the check bolt, then to fill yoi have to move the fill bolt. They said i was low. Cool, they said they added fluid. Great. Can't add fluid without moving the fill bolt.

are you 100% sure you marked the fill bolt? strange they would check it and say 3/4 low and not fill it. could they have removed the fill bolt and put it back and you can not tell by the mark you put on it? only other thing i can think of is someone interrupted the service tec just before he was going to add fluid..???.

Some of our guys used to do that when people marked their oil filters. Or they would use their own sharpie to write a retort such as "thanks for the trust," "I did it!" etc etc.

OP, I understand the frustration, but I'd say that's a dealer issue if anything. I wouldn't trade in the truck, I'd hit another dealer. To each their own though.

exactly. Not a reason to get rid of the truck or leave Toyota. But to each his own. Good luck OP

Is it possible for you to check it yourself. If the dealer says it was low and says they filled it, give them the benefit of the doubt. I wouldn't be throwing it around that they didn't do it without a 100% verification. You seem to be basing this off of assumption and not fact just because a bolt you marked may not appear moved. Just saying check it yourself before accusing that they didn't do it. I for one would would he embarrassed to go back to that dealer for them to show you it was done. If you can prove it then that's a whole different story. You could take pictures and raise shit then.

Thanks, i appreciate it. I guess at this point i just dont feel the truck is going to last 100k miles and since i didn't buy the extended warranty I'm feeling lost.

OP, you sound a little dramatic. Just check it/fill it yourself. It's not hard and you'll sleep better. Sure, its sucks you can't usually trust the dealer but that's just they way it is.

Have you had a ton of issues? Toyota has pumped out reliable trucks. 3rd gen complaints seem common because you're on a forum. People love to complain. First gen was reliable, 2nd gen was...I'm sure 3rd gen will be the same. As far as extended warranty, I doubt you would need it. The whole reason that sells so well is that it keys in on people's fear of needing repairs. Most vehicles, by a large margin, won't need enough repairs to equate the cost of the warranty (1-2k) in the first 100k miles. People buy it for peace of mind, not to use it frequently. That's another "to each his own" item.
