So I just bought a TRDOR dcsb and first thing I noticed was a little looseness of the leather on the steering wheel at the 3 o'clock position. If I grab the steering wheel at 9 and 3 and press my fingers into the perforated leather behind the controls it's squishy and makes a tacky noise like a sticker being pulled off something. Has anyone else noticed anything similar. Dealer is trying to get me to go away but all I want is a new steering wheel. I went to all the other Tacomas on the lot and they are nice and tight at that same spot. Am I being unreasonable? Only have 300 miles on it and it's not like I want a new steering wheel for the hell of it. Let me know what you guys think.

Mine is nice and tight all the way around. Dealer should repair it under warranty.

I know mine is brand new, but love my steering wheel and ride for that matter.

This is what your warranty is for. If it bothers you that much go back to the dealership and be persistent or go to a different dealership. Call Toyota Customer Service and open a case. Tell them that it's a distraction when driving which in turn is a safety concern.

That's what I'm pushing for. Got the service manager involved and he said he's going to contact a factory rep and go from there. It's like how much can a damn steering wheel cost? Put the damn thing in there and let me go away happy

Keep putting pressure on Toyota until you get a new one. My steering wheel doesn't have this problem and it is one of the many things I really like about the truck. (TRD Sport if that makes a difference)

Best steering wheel I have ever had. Feels great. Solid and just the right size.

    Good luck, OP.

Find a new dealer! There shouldn't be any issues getting something like that repaired at a decent dealer/service dept.

I have that tacky sticker sound sometimes too. I always thought it was my hands because when I press around the steering wheel it seems tight. Maybe I'll pay more attention to it.

Mine had a weird rough textured area around 2:00. I hated how it felt when i made turns and let the slide through my hands!

My first service adviser said that the tech told him it was normal because of how the wheel is manufactured...yeah ok. On my second visit, I dealt with a different adviser. As soon as I mentioned the issue, he looked at it/felt it and said 'oh yeah, we'll order you a new one' on the spot. No need for a tech.

I think it makes a difference who you deal with at the dealership, and it's not just the dealership. My new adviser rocks. The new wheel is perfect, and the old one was definitely defective. Complain about it and have it replaced

Holy shit. The factory rep says it's not warrantable. I just called Toyota customer care and got a case number. The guy says he understands sounded like he got what I was saying. I'm seriously gonna flip shit if this doesn't get fixed. I work in service for Porsche. I deal with this shit all day long. I'm the one that fixes these problems for people. If someone brought me their Porsche and had the same issue I'm having it would be a no brainer. Air in a steering wheel and put him in a loaner and fix it next day. I've had the other techs look at it and they said oh yeah I feel what your talking about. So why the fuck can't I get Toyota to put a goddamn steering wheel in the thing?? Should I have to live with this? No. Would someone else not as picky as me live with it? Idk maybe. I work my ass of so I can afford a 40k truck at 28. I am beyond livid....

I just emailed the owner of the dealership and attached the video. I made a plea with him to make it right. I hope someone will...
