man, this thread went sideways....but to answer the original question, I still have mine. But it occurs to me that if they hadn't jacked up that classic look Gen 2 front end, to look like a Mac truck nose, probably wouldnt need a damn dam

I left my air dam on because I saw a simple mod when I first got the truck that I wanted to try.

As you look at the truck from the front of the truck, look at the far left indention where the air dam meets the bottom of the bumper, there is a hole that leads up to where your stock cold air intake picks up fresh air, there is a small tab of plastic that you can trim and bend it back and it will open that airway much better than it comes stock.

Below are a few pics that I took at night, hopefully the pics show the mod well enough to explain what I did. By removing the front air dam it will not catch fresh air from the front of the truck to go through the passageway to your stock air box, yes it will still pull air but not as good as it does with the air dam on and with the simple mod that I did. It does seem to have a touch more power on the low end.

I just did this mod the other day but I did not think about snapping any pics until I looked at this thread tonight. The way I see it, it`s doing the same thing that a few companies are doing with their CAI`s and it cost nothing. I will continue to run the drop in K&N and this simple mod.

Yes, I know it`s dirty, it will get a good washing on my next day off.

After taking it off and seeing that it's just a big hunk of plastic, I don't believe the hype of the mpg advantage or this intake flow. It's ugly and if it actually did something the sales guy would have had a boner over both of those key points. Never made mention of it.

Still have mine. I personally like the look better with it on. I dont do rock crawling so I dont need the ground clearance.

Anytime you can reduce drag resistance underneath you benefit in mpg. Maybe they did it to squeak into a category of EPA efficiency.

This is what's holding me back. I don't have the issue and I figured taking the dam off might allow air to hit the holes on the arms and I'd rather not have to plug any drain holes

The first time I took my truck offroad I forgot I had the dam on... yeah I cracked the shit out of it and the terrain wasn't even too crazy. We're only talking Florida backwoods nothing like some of the pictures I have seen on here of rock crawling and the like. Needless to say it came off as soon as I got home and I have never looked back. Personally I think the truck has a much more aggressive stance without it.

    I offroad bro.

You may offroad, but I snowboard.

Oh yeah, well I do that too. You have no balls.

Seriously when are the dick pics on this thread gonna show up so we can settle whose is bigger? lol:duel:

My opinion on air dams is only from my good buddy's F150 and my Dad's Yukon. For my dad, the air dam is great. Nobody takes 2015 yukons off road as far as I've seen. Just not a great platform. My buddy's f150 is a different story. His got ripped off the first time we took it off road. So he does not have one.

I would say that if you plan on actually wheeling, take it off. If not, then it is fine. With a lift, it will even be fine on most dirt roads. If you are into rocks, then it will probably get messed up.

they say 3% better mileage, right? I drive about 28,000 miles yr, mostly hiway, getting 24 mpg, so thats about 1166 gallons a year. If I bump that by 3% to 24.72 mpg, thats 1132 gallons. Difference of 34 gallons a yr X $3.00 avg. Thats a savings of $102 year in fuel if my math isnt too fuzzy, but I have to look at the thing all year. It might be coming off

I have my air dam on my SR still. the trd off road did not come with one. I thought about seeing if it made a difference by swapping from one to another for a week. But have not had the opportunity or desire to do it.
