It depends on the model too. If you get a Sport/OR/Limited you do at least get individual TPMS and a push button start. Lol.

I was actually on the fence debating doing the opposite late last year. I had a 2004 4.7L Tundra and a 2009 5.7L Tundra before my Tacoma and I almost bought a Mustang GT instead, but then realized how many places I couldn't go in it, and how much it would suck when it snows so I went with the Tacoma instead. I miss my V8 since this is the first non V8 vehicle I've owned, but it'll still move in the higher RPM range, enough to get a very bad ticket at 99 MPH passing an annoying driver out of frustration and running away from a hailstorm with high winds (don't do that).

I still want something for fun, maybe an S197 Mustang GT or something, or a new GT in 10 years and keep the truck, but I know that I'll never be able to completely get rid of owning a truck. Considered a bike but I just witnessed a sport bike wreck yesterday (not his fault) and I think I'll pass on those.

The trick to being a good motorcyclist is learning to avoid both the accidents that would be your fault along with the ones that would be someone else's.

Indeed. I have dash cam in my Tacoma but for the last few days I've been stuck in a rental so I didn't capture it on camera. I think he saw it coming a bit and was able to lay it down just before impact but still hit the vehicle and went airborne. An SUV turned right in front of him likely without even seeing the bike till impact. Not a lot he could do in that case unfortunately. He seemed to come out ok and they got the ambulance there and he was sitting up and talking. He did have full protective gear on thank goodness. It's the goons that go with no helmet and in a tank top that scare me the most. But I guess they don't value their lives too much so it would seem.

I should mention that I am part owner of a 2015 Mustang, but it's of the unexciting variety as it's a V6 Auto Convertible. Just for fun, sightseeing, and long highway trips that still net 27 MPG going 80. Still, when you're on the road being legal a 300HP V6 is plenty. But I still plan on owning a GT at some point in my life. Gotta get that V8 rumble back, plus I'm a muscle car guy at heart though a nice BMW or even a new Miata is somewhat appealing, it's just not the same.

That's where experience comes in. You learn when and where things like this are likely to happen and avoid the possibility of a collision by watching everything, making yourself visible and being ready for others to behave erratically.

I live in Ohio and went from a 2012 Civic Si to my '16 Taco. I miss the acceleration of my Si but what I don't miss are the speeding tickets, poor handling in the snow, and the price for all the mods and continuing to try and get power out of a 4cyl without being a 'ricer.' The Taco is WAY more practical for the snow, hauling my fishing gear and music instruments/gear. Cant really fit a Halfstack in the back of a civic. Love sitting up higher in the Taco too. Get a Manual Transmission Taco and you'll be happy. There's just something sweet about driving a truck.

Everybody talks about how slow the Tacoma is, but a 7 second 0-60 truck isn't bad. If I can improve the road handling and cut out some body roll a bit I'll be pretty happy. The transmission blows, but shifty mode isn't half bad. Really want to get my hands on a project asap, though.

Yup, I came from an APR Stage II Golf GTI, although I loved the car for what it was, I don't miss it much. Mainly because the truck is a completely different needs vehicle. Had I gone to another lesser car, I would feel differently. I love my truck for what it is and never look back and I don't care that it takes a calendar month to calculate it's 0-60 times, it's a truck and it does truck things.

I went from 98 323is Manual 5Speed, to 2005 X3 Auto, to the 2016 Taco Auto. More utility, still a great ride. The only caveat is you wont be able to take that 35 MPH Overpass at 70 anymore.

I have gone back and forth from 89 supra to full sized Chevy to prelude to Chevy to jeep TJ to 5.0 mustang now to taco... Decided that I will never be without a truck ever again due to having a more versatile vehicle. While I love a sports car, it just ain't worth it to not have a truck.

I had an Exige S and before that an Elise and I still have a super V8. I don't mind slow. I have a VW TDI and my taco is a 4 banger and I have a bunch of old land rovers.

I will say, I am looking for another sports car (Morgan aero, Ferrari 612, exige s 260 are on the top of my list) because there is nothing like that feeling, but if I had only one car it would be a station wagon, SUV or taco.

Even when you do, shit happens. A lady crossed into my lane Saturday evening and I narrowly avoided a head-on in my truck. At the last second I had to turn left to avoid it and still clipped her car and spun her. If I was on my motorcycle, I would not be typing this.
