What's with people trying to selling their 16's for thousands more than they're worth?

Some people can't get a good deal on a new or slightly used one through the dealership due to having bad/no credit, so they buy used privately at the same price or higher.

    There you have it!

I for one am happy that the '16s are selling for so high on the used market. When my TRD Pro comes in, I should be able to get top dollar for my truck!

Ever thought all cash sale using illicit funds? Its called money laundering. You walk into any legitimate business place and drop down 40 grand in cash, you're going to be a very suspicious person. Private party has less issues to deal with.

I wouldn't call it haggle room when you're $3-$5k more than kbb excellent value and expect to get close to that. I emailed someone that had one listed $4k over kbb and their price was OBO but only would go down $500

A huge reason I bought new was the prices of used 4x4s.

I'm leaning toward that route. I'm not in a hurry to buy since I have another vehicle. I'm going to wait for the 2017 to come out and as long as there isn't anything new worth while I will try to pick a 2016

I just checked Craigslist and there was an access cab off-road 4x4 with no tech and 5k miles for 35999. Lol

I just don't get it. Are people really stupid enough to buy them instead of buying new for less. Qualifying for a $35k loan is the same process new or used.

but i hope someone buys them at these prices because they help ours retain even more value.

Not sure I would go with a 16? Took my 15 in for service at a local dealer, Service guy said he had two 2016 V6 come in last week puking oil from the timing chain covers. I will wait until Toyota works the bugs out.

Just wait till your secondary pump and valves go to the tune of $1900 (known issue for 12-15).

Simple math really. Most people buy without a down payment, $35,000 * 0.0625% (tx car tax) plus misc fees, you're at $38k ish. Not including options and extra packages. So only make a few payments your principal doesn't get touched much.

My credit union will allows 2.99% financing up to 84 months on a new truck if you're financing 100% or LESS than MSRP. Rate jumps to 4.99% for 84 months if you're over 100%.

Let's say we're talking a DCSB Offroad 4x4 with no accessories w/ an MSRP of $35,000.

The same credit union will allow same financing terms up to around $38000 for the same truck if it's sold used with 5,000 miles on the odometer because that's what KBB lists its retail value at. Great way to maintain a low interest rate if you're rolling some negative equity into a new loan :D

I was able to sell my 2013 trd sport double cabwith 50k miles for 30k. Tax and title it was 35k out the door. These Tacomas just seem to hold their value pretty well.
