Can't remember exactly but believe it was about $300 since I got the rotors and pads.

LOT of brake dust with this system and they break pretty good for all the weight I have on the truck, but the pads only lasted maybe 25K though.

The pads yes, they were shot. The thing with the "high performance" brake pads like EBC is that they brake a lot better but do not last as long.

I replaced with Adv. Auto Platinum pads. We will see how long they last.

oh sweet thanks man, youll have to let me know how those work out. I need to buy breaks but would rather go straight to the stage 5 rather than just placing pads on the oem rotors

After some driving, Adv. Auto platinum pads seem similar to the EBC yellow's that I had on before. I think the EBC's bite a little more during hard braking though. The "sport" pads like the EBC's are designed to have normal braking power until you brake harder so that would probably be the only difference. I do have the EBC slotted rotors though from the Stage 5. I can't really remember how my current setup of EBC rotors and Adv. Auto pads compares to stock rotors and pads so can't help you there unfortunately

    Kids these days

I was driving to pick up my new bicycle and saw this maybe 17 year old kid with a Cadillac SRX on the side of the road with a shredded front tire. Flipped a bitch and pulled over. I got out and asked him if he needed help and he mumbled something, so I asked him if he knew how to change a tire. He said no, so I told him I'd help him. He mumbled something else and I went to get his spare and jack out. Meanwhile, he's on the phone with his mom, yelling at her about what happened and trying to explain where he was in not so nice words. I told him his location to relay to his mom, and then his mom must've said something, because he said "no! I just woke up, why are you asking if I'm high already!" At this point I start to understand he probably is high and why he's mumbling and stumbling around like he was. I asked him why he was yelling at his mom like that, and he said "well she yells at me so I yell back"...told him that he probably isn't helping the cycle doing that...

Got the tire changed right as his mom pulled up. She seemed a little more with it but just said "thanks for helping" real quick and went over to talk to her son as I was leaving. I don't expect anything when I try and help people but good lord...

I'm pretty comfortable on the side of the road after working with FD and being on wrecks, and I never turned my back on the kid

I'll only be 22 on Monday, but damn.

It's actually more sad than anything that some people don't have the role models or parental figures to teach them simple things like changing a tire.

I feel like auto 101 should be required before getting a license. Checking oil, changing a tire, jumping a battery, etc should be known before handing the kid a license.
I also feel like I was born in the wrong generation. I'm a gen x'r so I am quite a bit older, but I feel like I shouldve been born in the 30s or something. What happened to common courtesy? When I open a door for a lady, they usually look at me like I'm a stalker or crazy, instead of saying thank you.

Or the f'n motivation. Kid was on a phone. Easily could have pulled up YouTube and searched for "how to change tire"

Maybe I'm asking for too much.

Getting the itch for a new vehicle. I'm still in the process for jobs so it obviously is not the best time for it. The truck is paid off so a dealership trade would be easiest, since I probably wouldn't want to deal with a private party sale. But still not a smart financial decision at this moment.

The obvious option would be to keep the truck and be happy with it but its impracticality and how I use it as a DD makes it annoying to drive sometimes. I would like to get a Subaru WRX, or a Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ, or maybe even a 3rd Gen Tacoma if I did a trade at a Toyota dealer. I've learned through the truck that modifying and making a vehicle look cool doesn't necessarily make it cool and nice to drive. Too many issues, noises, and uncomfortable ride with a modded truck like mine. If I was rich, I wouldn't mind keeping the truck for bad weather and offroading trips and having a car and my motorcycle for DD'ing...but I'm not rich

I'll be thinking about it over the next year or so, especially if I finally get hired and depending on my status of getting a new motorcycle in that time frame. If I got another vehicle, I would still mod it but nothing near what I've done with the truck. Pretty much only stuff like wheels/tires, HID's if the vehicle didn't already have them, and little interior upgrades. Big suspension, engine, electrical, etc changes just really opens up a can of worms of things that can go wrong or start making weird noises, etc. Obviously this stuff is easy to say now especially because I have a history of the "mod bug", but I think I would be really careful with another vehicle with the knowledge of what I have now after building the Tacoma up. We'll see. Right now I'm just thinking out loud.

It definitely wouldn't be for at least 6 months-1 year just for financial sense.

Just thinking out loud at this point.
