I live in north east Canada, usually see 4-5 months of winter a year, looking for all around tire good for forestry roads, pavement and winter.

I narrowed it down to these 2 tires.

Toyo's are $60 more per set, no big deal.

What tire will last longer and perform better in everyone's experience?

Haven't tried the Toyo AT2's (had a set of their 35" MT's on an old Jeep and was super happy with them), but I had the Cooper AT3's on the Tacoma for a good while. They did awesome here in the PNW; great wet traction, and didn't have any issue with snow (though it was only in the 4"-8" range). No issues with balancing, flats, wear patterns or getting stuck, and I took them on some fairly nasty terrain. Also did about 1,000 miles of dirt and gravel road driving without any chunking. They did like to pick up little rocks, though.

Way over priced. I also find the tread pattern too tight, and my work runs them on every truck in the province. They gum up when it gets muddy.

Thanks for the feedback, good to hear about the coopers when used off road, the ko1's we had at work for years were terrible for the tread cutting and chunking off.

I've had good luck with the A/T3's. I have a set on my Tacoma with 45,000 miles on them and might get another 10K out of them. None of the tires discussed so far is a true mud tire including the BFG's. They will all perform about the same off road.

We don't get a lot of snow in GA, but less than 2 weeks after buying mine we were hit with a major snow/ice storm that hit about 8 hours earlier than predicted. Schools and most businesses planned on closing at noon for a storm predicted to hit about 6PM. It started at 10AM leaving lots of people stranded at schools and businesses. I was able to assist getting kids home from schools and was out well past midnight in it. Never spun a tire.

I caught mine when they were offering an $80 rebate. I wrote the check for $550 getting the total cost to $470 OTD. You can't buy 2 of the BFG's and get them mounted for that.

Sounds like people prefer coopers, or at least have more experience with them.

The sidewall is what I like on the toyo's but if they aren't any better than the coopers I'll just save the $60

Also, if you're looking for something still in the AT category but a little bit more aggressive, I'm running the Cooper ST Maxx currently and couldn't be happier. Like them even more than the AT3's.

I need something as good on fuel as possible but good for logging operation roads. My Michelin ltx m/s on truck now do decent but not perfect.

I have the at/3 and like them. I run old logging roads for hunting and fishing and have had no problems with them. Haven't been in the snow yet though. I got them in May and have about 5,000 miles on them. Got a great deal on discount tire direct.

I've not had the Cooper's, but the Toyo's do very well in Maine during the winter. Probably close to how your winter conditions might be.

And they are great on logging roads.

Good to hear. Northern Maine has similar conditions to where I live. I have family just across the border in grand falls.

I'm not going to buy another set of wheels, or pay to mount and dismount winter tires every year, so I want the best all around tire I can get at a decent price. These 2 are my choices, hard to tell which one will suit me better. I'm sure both are decent tires

I run mine year round too.

Also, I believe both come in Load Range C (6 ply). That's a good choice for the Tacoma and more specifically, your needs.

o_O those weren't on the list. :smack:

OP go with whichever is the cheapest of the two. Both great tires that I think you will be happy with.

Shipping and exchange rate kills me in Canada. I and looking at $720 to my door. And that's the cheapest by over $100

Ya I think the coopers are what I'm going to order. $60 cheaper and they seem to be good quality tires.

I think you will be happy with them. Know of a few people that run them and love them.
