Well Bro I've never heard of the camera anti sway system your talking about but I'd sure be interested in learning anything about it you can pass on. So please if you have a website about it PM me to pass on any information you have. I also have been looking at the Jayco models and I'm VERY interested in looking at one of their new Hummingbird models they are coming out with. Just myself but I think if your stay around 3000lbs dry weight for the trailer with an automatic transmission V6 engine and shifting in manual mode we should have no problem or at least I hope so! I'm also planning on buying a set of SuperSprings soon to help leveling the load since I'm a newbie with towing a load and any advantage iI can get I'm after. My only experience with RV's is when my father-in law was still with us and his many motor-homes RV's so its zilch knowledge for me on travel trailers but hey I did inherit a couple of nifty tow bars if anyone is interested? ;-)

Cool! the Lance 1575 ( I think that's the right model number?) is on my list of must see trailers. I'll be very interested in your report!

Hauled basically the same load with mine but I used my trailer. That trailer looks to have surge brakes on it like most rental trailers. Either way mine did better than expected with the excavator behind it. Heavy little suckers!

Yeah that's what I expected, but after the poor braking performance I inspected it when I got home and it didn't have it. So I just thought it had electronic brakes, but didn't realize you need a controller module to activate them (was built in on my F250 so didn't think twice). Anyways, no harm done, and a successful round trip that made me proud of my little Yota. Although if I had any more tongue weight I would have wanted a weight distribution hitch, because it was sagging on the edge of my comfort zone. Front wheels got a little light on big bumps.

That SunBelt trailer absolutely has surge brakes on it. In fact you can see the surge hitch in the photo you posted. You're estimate of 6500 lbs is probably pretty close, I'm 90% sure that's a Bobcat 324, they come in around 3600 lbs and a double axle drop deck like that can easily get to 3k. There's no way in hell a rental place (especially a national outfit like SunBelt) would let you off the lot with that kind of load without brakes.

Yeah that's is what I was saying you can see the surge brake unit on the trailer. Now wether or not they were adjusted correctly or had fluid in them is a different story.

Even if the trailer had surge brakes it doesn't mean they worked.

Hey Bubba, I'd be a little more careful coming on here telling me what the facts are. I didn't see you present that day. I suggest we agree to disagree on this one and keep the thread on topic.

Had no problem pulling this little gem for 200 miles through some hills. About 2500 pounds and 12.7 MPG.

Nice, retractable centerboard keel it looks like, which is a great boat for lakes and running in shallow waters. Did you pull it with an automatic transmission, running it with ECT on and in the manual mode?

It's a Hunter 23.5 on a lake in Arkansas. Did a little shake down sail yesterday. Yes it is an auto. Did tow a bit better with ECT. Did not feel the need for manual mode. Just like with driving with out a trailer, you learn the way this transmission wants to work, it is really smooth and easy to drive. You can even get decent gas mileage. Did not have to climb any mountains but it is very hilly and some steep spots.

About 2 weeks ago hauled 3 loads of firewood with no trouble at all, the little bugger did quite good for a 4 cylinder!!! This was all before I installed my firestone ride rite air bags but now with those I'm sure I won't have no sagging at all!

Glad to hear it was a smooth tow and that you had a great shake down cruise, Hunter's are a great boat!

I've had my SR5 4x2 Tacoma for almost 3 weeks now and finally got to tow our 21' center console fishing boat with it. I feel the truck did well as I believe the boat & trailer weigh somewhere around 3000Lb. Its about 15 miles to the boat ramp from our house but on our way there are a couple steep hills we have to go up. Can't say for sure what my MPG were but I believe somewhere in the 10-11 mpg for the round trip.

In our household there is also a 2014 Tundra (V6) and that's what we've always used to tow our boats with but we wanted to test out my new Tacoma today and there is obviously no comparison because you can't even feel the boat with the tundra but once again, I think the tacoma did pretty well.
I can't imagine the guys on here who towed 6000lb trailers though....

3000 pounds is really nothing for the Taco. Even long distance.

I'm surprised! I had a 2012 TRD Tundra with the 4.6L V8 and I could sure feel my 5 X 10 Wells Cargo Cycle Wagon with my Harley inside. The trailer has a lower height and a bubble on the front to reduce air drag. It pulled it fine but I definitely knew it was back there. Your V6 must have more torque than my Tundra had. My friend used it once behind his 5.7L Tundra at we didn't even know it was back there and it was filled to capacity with furniture and other household items. I have yet to pull it behind my 3.5L Tacoma but am sure it will do fine.

I was wondering if yall would share a pic of where you mounted your trailer brake controllers. I'm in little bit of a conundrum. My truck is at the dealer having the hood adhesive repaired and it won't be done till tomorrow morning. I head into work tomorrow and and work 48 hour shifts so my wife will be picking the truck up for me. Anyway we just bought a jayco 195rb and we'll be picking it up Saturday. I need to get home Sat morning install that brake controller and head 90 miles to prescott AZ to pick it up. I'm not concerned about wiring since I ordered a pigtail for the brake controller.
The cubby to the left of the wheel is out since that's where I out the switch-pro. I was thinking lower dash but concerned my knees will hit it. I'm 6' and can't test out fitment on my rental since its a second generation.
    Thanks for any insight!

And yes I know I should of ordered the brake controller before buying a trailer :der:
