Tried to flex it out to be sure the bumps are compressed. But can't flex it enough to see. I can get it to about a quarter inch between bump and frame. And the shock looks like it has just enough travel left. But I'm gonna get some 1/4" plate and make a spacer for my bumps. The bamf kit also puts the tire very close to the shock when flexing.

 

I'm confused by your post.

 

Myself and a couple jeeps were just putsing around on the trails last weekend when a couple essentially stock wranglers (a 2dr & a 4dr) came by and frantically asked for the quickest and easiest way back to the office. They were on trail 11, where I take newbies to get them comfortable with rocks. One of the dude's eyes were like bugged out he was so sketched by the trails. We decided to guide them back to the office fearing they'd get lost or something.
You know the mud hole on the pole line? The 2-door drove in, immediately lost traction, floored it, and made a huge wake as he sped through.

I've only seen the built ones there do anything that resembles wheeling.

 

You missed the previous trip with a Cherokee on its side in that same area. The entertainment value is priceless.

 

That spot is a trap. Similar to the frog hole. Looks like a small puddle but turns out to be 5' deep. I found a similar one on trail 20 last time.

 

Those spots are fine for rigs on 40's with 24" frame height. Anything else is a mistake.

Honestly I think you need at least a half inch spacer. Those bumps will compress a bit too and I think you will most definitely risk bottoming the shocks out.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking laying two pieces of 1/4" plate down for my spacer.

 

I'm not too worried about it though. Need to flex it the whole way to see what it looks like. Plus I don't think it'll hurt them too much to fully compress the shocks as long as I go slow the shocks also have a rubber? Washer to help cushion the blow if you compress them fully. That being said as soon as I can I'm gonna get the spacers on.

 

I have a friend who has been in the offroad/overlanding scene for quite a while that is stupidly skilled behind the wheel. He runs his stock LJ (with a skid mind you) on blacks on a whim, though he still shys away from reds sometimes.

Then again, he also teaches 4x4 courses so he better be used to that kind of thing.

Went to yellowcreek today to fish the spillway. I usually catch some pretty nice smallmouth outta there. But got to the spillway to find its not spilling anymore. Just a big puddle there now. Damit. Well I was able to throw a stick for the dog to play in the water.
