What exactly is the problem? When the brakes are pressed does it not light them up?

just had a random fuse blow on mine for about 3 months now, turned out the spring in the brake light bulb socket had gotten passed the thin plastic edge and was touching the bulb pins and it melted the plastic so now the bulb pin no longer touches the bulb and the light no longer works.

he might have had something like that happen, so remove the lens and take the brake light bulb out and push the wires so the spring and contacts lift out so you can see if they are in good shape

Might be the bulbs both burned out .

    Something damaged the harness .

Does it have the problematic Trailer Converter light box ?? The cause of so many light issues

after taking the bulb out, did you push the spring and disk up to look at them to see if anything is melted?

or if it wont come all the way up its probably ok but check to see if the pins are discolored any

Check the brake light switch. You know, the one the brake pedal engages.

Some vehicles have a little pad on the pedal shaft that engages the switch, and they break and fall out. So no more switch engagement.

Or the switch itself can fail. Not a high contender, but it can happen.

If that piece falls out, then the brake lights stay on all the time. The pad presses the switch in which makes the lights turn off. But still, it's a good idea to check the switch and pad. If the pad broke and the lights were stuck on, the switch could have burnt up and stopped working.

Quick test for the brake pedal switch (only works if vehicle has cruise control) - Will pressing the brake pedal cancel cruise control?

If not, I'd say that's the problem... They are usually a PITA to replace (laying on your back through the doorway with your head under the dash).
