I've had sports cars all my life, traded in my 2008 vette on the 2016 taco this is my first truck and I have no regrets, I love it.

after seeing the Ridgeline thread; what about a Ridgeline with some light AT tires? maybe something more car-like is the compromise... v-tec kicked-in-yo! (did i say that right?)

LOL The 3.5 in the Taco acts eerily like a VTEC engine with the definite increase in power at 3500 RPM. Reminds me of the Civic SIs I had before the GTIs.

I went from a 2000 Celica GT-S to a 2006 Tacoma DC, 4x4. The Celica was sporty, but didn't fill the want for something better, faster, and more powerful (after selling the Ceilca). I sold the Tacoma and went to a sports car. Picked up a 2008 350Z, Nismo. I still have it and I've since placed an order for a new 2017 Tacoma. So, I'll have both. I love my outdoors, but I may never get over the feel and want of a sports or sporty car.

OP have you considered full size? It will open up your options with luxury features quite a bit.

I just spent 2 hours at my computer building tacos and rams: It seems as though I would get a lot more bang for my buck with the ram. The msrp is about 47200 but every dealer has automatic mark downs between 8 and 9k. That brings it to within 1000 bucks of a DCLB offroad with tech and tow, no jbl. I will test drive both again and see what wins on the test drive. Its honestly a toss up for me at this point.

if buying and not leasing, consider total cost of ownership. the taco will be much, much less....

if you're rich, ignore the aforementioned.

Love that avatar! I know that Tacoma has a reputation for quality and I certainly see a lot of 1st gens still kicking around everywhere I go. I can only imagine the mileage count on them. Aside from never dying, why will the cost of ownership be lower, because I am certainly not rich

Definitely test drive every potential vehicle you may want and see the differences. I'm guessing you're looking at a Laramine trim right?

nope, I am looking at the big horn. I have test drove both months ago. I had a better feel with the ram but I want to give the taco another shot. The more I look at cars.com I think that even if I go with the taco off road, I am still saving a few grand. The rams msrp at about 10k over the offroad, but they give great incentives on them. I have noticed that a lot of dealers by me are now offering deals on the taco as well. I will have to go into the dealers and get hard numbers.

I went from a 2003 Jetta GLI vr6 to a '15 taco, I'm still learning I can't corner like I used to, and sustaining 100 on the highway won't work so well.
But it was a welcome change. I find I am more relaxed when driving now that I'm not always trying to get past people driving slower then I would like.
    Good luck with your decision.

    Mostly stuff I built.
Buy it with a manual trans mission and you won't ever miss the sporty car.

At one point not long ago, my wife and I had an 04 golf GTI, a 2013 scion frs, and a 2014 bmw s1000r. We ditched the frs for a 2016 taco. The bike still goes faster then just about anything on the road, the GTI still gets good gas mileage and the taco is now the work horse/future baby wagon.

The taco won't ever come close to your m3...it won't even come close to an e36 m3, but use it like it's intended, and is pretty cool. Rather then speed parts, but tough parts, lifts, tires, bumpers and lights instead of exhaust and lowering springs.

you just turn one problem into a different one. I have dirtbikes and mountain bikes and hated loading the rack on the roof and off the car for the bikes and no means to haul the dirtbike.

Best decision I've made. I can do outdoor stuff and have room to pack my gear without waiting for my friends that have trucks/SUV to go...
